Show TO, SO' UTAH ' J , By Air, Highway, Or Rail In pioneer times Southern Ulah was isolated by hundreds of miles of dirt roads. Even Salt Lake City was many jolting days away by horse or canlage. Today any part of Southern Utah is only overnight from Southern California by rail or highway. Salt Lake City is only a few hours drive. And by plane, Cedar City or St. George is only an hour or two from either Southern California or Salt Lake City. Transportation is no longer a barrier to the region's full development. ecs. Interstate 15 (UJS, 91) leads south to Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area, north to Salt Lake City. Interstate 70, soon to be opened, will join Southern Utah directly with Denver and the east.
