The U.S. Air Force 368th Recruiting Squadron spent some time with Eric Huntsman of Letrono CrossFit in Syracuse. Huntsman led them in a regimen to give delayed entry Airmen the opportunity to experience a CrossFit workout to help keep them in top physical shape as they await their shipping dates. After a warm-up, participants ran with weighted medicine balls, performed a kettle ball stamina lift, put in a circuit on a rowing machine, performed a combined push-up with a standing straight up leap, and finally ran an obstacle course set up with a military type ap- LiRgs:arerogiT to adapt to any variety of physical demands placed on it. proach, including ammo box weights, monkey bars and two walls. "The program was difficult, but rewarding," said Master Sgt. Amparan, 368th RCS Senior Trainer. "CrossFit gives the body a full workout to include warm-up and cool down. The level of fitness is improved by the duration of the work-out and how often you complete it." As Huntsman demonstrated the push-up, leaping straight up combination with the help of an assistant, he pointed out the benefit of intensity of the workout. He explained such moves were designed to improve the endurance and ability of the body There were other benefits as well for the recruiters themselves. "The event gave recruiters the opportunity to impress upon this top-notch facility that the kind of individuals going through their program are the ones we are searching out for active duty and battlefield Airmen opportunities," said Amparan. The personal fitness of the recruiters themselves also got a boost. Participants were given the chance to invite friends so they could gain valuable information on fitness and Air Force enlistment opportunities. What are your CSRS/FERS Pension Options?
