Heidi Taggart and Van R. Mitchell were married Friday, June 4 in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception was held in their honor at the Territorial State House in Fillmore. An open house was also held the following evening at the Taggart residence. The bride is the daughter of Douglas and Erin Taggart of Liberty. The parents of the bridegroom are Doyal and Jody Mitchell of Fillmore and Jolynn and Jim Blodgett of Holden. Heidi chose Charlotte Evans of Eden as her maid of honor. Jeff Mitchell and Travis Taylor performed the duties of the best men. The bride is currently attending Utah State University where she is studying Ornamental Horticulture. She graduated from Weber High School in 2002. The bridegroom graduated from Millard High School in 2000, and served an LDS mission in Southern Alberta, Canada. He is currently studying Bio Veterinary Science at Utah State University. The new couple will live in Fillmore after their honeymoon on the Oregon Coast. Miller-West Montgomery-Neal Amy Miller and James R. West were united in marriage May 1 in the St. George LDS Temple. A reception was held in their honor at the residence of David Stanley. An open house was held at Wright’s Getaway Lodge. She chose Holly Collins as her matron of honor. Kara Carter, Meagan Wadman, and Alex Hogge were her bridesmaids. Karl West Jr. performed the duties of best man. Brian Shattuck was groomsman. The bride is the daughter of Scott and Jill Miller of Liberty. She is a graduate of Weber High School and Dixie State College where she earned an Associate’s degree in science. Parents of the bridegroom are Karl and Barbara West of St. Davis, Arizona. He is a graduate of Pineview High School in St. George. He served in the Washington Seattle LDS Mission. He is the owner of James West Construction Company. The new couple will live in St. George after their honeymoon to Bryce Canyon. Maryann Montgomery and Garret Deloy Chris Neal were married Friday, June 4 in the Ogden LDS Temple. A reception was held in their honor that evening at the Huntsville LDS Meeting House. The bride is the daughter of Steven D. and Deborah B. Montgomery of Huntsville. Parents of the bridegroom are Chris Neal and Connie Robertson of Ogden. Elizabeth Montgomery was the maid of honor, with Andrea M. Funk, Rachel M. Chase, Mindy Evans, and Jennifer Neal as bridesmaids. Brent Montgomery performed the duties of best man. The bride attended Northridge High School and Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College. She plans to be a homemaker. The bridegroom is a graduate of Salt Lake Community College and is employed by the LDS Church. After their honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Hooper. Jennifer and Jason Matthew Hanni of Eden had a baby girl, Grace Elizabeth, on May 18. Kelly and Suzanne Amman of Eden had a baby boy, Jeffrey Martin, on May 12. Missionaries Elder Steven Randal Shepherd, son of Randy and Steffnie Shepherd of Eden, will serve in the Dominican Republic-Santo Domingo West Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spoke at the Eden 1st Ward on May 23. Returning Missionaries Elder Jason Warnes, son of Mylan and Sue Warnes of Liberty, served in the Singapore Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spoke at the Liberty 2nd Ward on May 23. Eagle Scouts Jake Dove, 17, son of Tom and Cathy Dove; Chase Tanner Talmage Smith, Jake Dove Chase Tanner Talmage Smith Preston Rich 18, son of Lindford and Karen Smith; and Preston Rich, 16, son of Ward and Corlyn Rich all of Liberty have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. All boys are members of Troop 32 in the Liberty 1st Ward. The boys posed for a picture with “Liberty” the bald eagle during their Court of Honor held in May. Jake, Preston, and Chase are students on the High Honor Roll and attend Weber High School. Preston Rich is a Letterman on the Warrior Swim Team. Obituaries Mr. & Mrs. Van Mitchell Taggart – Mitchell Birthdays Jean and Ray W. Shaw Ray W. and Jean Ellis Shaw celebrated their 85th and 80th birthdays. Family and friends attended an open house in their honor on June 12 at the Senior Citizen Center, 24 N. 300 West, Brigham City. She was born June 17, 1924, in Tremonton, to LeRoy and Emma Hale Ellis. She was the 12th of 13 children. He was born July 13, 1919, in Liberty, to Charles and Celia Ward Shaw. He was the only boy of five children. On December 11, 1957, their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. They are the parents of four children: Sharen Rose, Magee, Mississippi; Karen Lloyd, Syracuse; Charles “Chuck” Shaw, Boise, Idaho; and Teral “Terry” Shaw, Huntington. They have 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Angus Travis John (T. J.) McKay Angus Travis John McKay, beloved husband, son, brother, nephew, and adored daddy, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004. He was 24. T.J. was born in Ogden on January 7, 1980. His parents Angus Dan McKay and Annette Roberts were living in Huntsville at the time. T.J. spent his growing up years in Huntsville and Clinton where he enjoyed the farm and the outdoors. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church. He attended Clinton and West Clinton Elementary schools and Syracuse Junior High School. He graduated from Clearfield High School where he excelled in the R.O.T.C. program. T.J. joined the Army National Guard on January 31, 1997, right after he turned 17 and completed his basic training that summer at the end of his junior year. He completed AIT in diesel mechanics and construction equipment repair the following summer at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and served thereafter with the rank of Specialist in the 115th Maintenance Company of the 115th Engineer Battalion at Camp Williams. He completed a six-year tour of duty that included temporary active service in Germany and security for the Winter Olympics. T.J. was proud of his military service and accomplishments and planned to return to active duty when his children were a little older. T.J.s family has always been the cornerstone of his life. He married Emily Irene Andrade on October 24, in Ogden. He adored his wife. Together they worked hard to make a nice home for their beautiful little family. Starting in high school, T.J. worked in various positions as a mechanic and automotive specialist. From childhood, T.J. always loved animals and was the caring master of numerous pets. He enjoyed movies, fishing, hiking, and other outings with his wife, children, and dogs, and exploring in his truck. He was a friend to all, and above all, a wonderful and tender father. T.J. leaves behind his beloved wife, Emily, and his five children: Angus Logan, 7; Courtney Ann, 5-1/2; Jasmine Marie, 3-1/2; Angus Reece Daniel, 2; and Trent Jarrett, 5 months. He was devoted to and very proud of all of them. He is also survived by his mother, Annette Burnett; sister, Shelley McKay Clark; and nephew Tyson Ryley; sister Randi Burnett, all of Ogden; brother-in-law Reuben K. Clark, West Valley City; step-sister Lori B. Maw, North Ogden; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. T.J. was preceded in death by his father, Angus Dan McKay; his stepbrother Terry J. Burnett; and his four grandparents. Funeral services were held on May 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, Ogden. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife and children.
