Jobies is a Christian group for girls ages 11 to 20 years. The St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Fundraiser will be held March 15 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gray Cliff Lodge located at 508 Ogden Canyon. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 and under. There will also be a silent auction at the dinner. Menu items to choose from include halibut, New York steak, or corned beef cabbage. Tickets available at the door. For more information call 392-6775. Utah Homemakers Association Invites Community to Participate Come join with the Utah Homemakers Association. This organization has monthly meetings to promote stable homes and satisfying family living. Speakers are invited to the meetings who share educational information. Participants gain skills that will appeal to their interest and needs as homemakers. Association members also partici- pate in service projects in order to help with the welfare of others and of our community. The group meets the second Thursday of every month in Ogden from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. There is a nursery available for the cost of $1 per child. The yearly fee is just $12. Valley Market Super Bowl Contest Winners Announced— Entries for shopping spree being taken Valley Market owner Roger Terry hosted the sixth annual Super Bowl Contest on February 1. Shoppers were instructed to fill out a form with their best guess on what the Winners from left to right: Marcie Bott, Justin Spainhower, and Sandra Knowles. final score of this year’s Super Bowl game between the New England Patriots and South Carolina Panthers would be. This year’s winners and prizes were named as follows: Justin Spainhower of Eden, two tickets to a Jazz game Marcie Bott of Eden, electric scooter Sandra Knowles of Huntsville, DVD/VCR player Building on the popularity of the Super Bowl, Terry wanted to create some excitement of his own. According to Terry, during the last six years he has hosted the contest, no one has ever correctly guessed the final score of the big game; prizes have been awarded to the scores that came the closest. Mr. Terry stated, “Winning isn’t based on your knowledge of football . . . it’s just pure luck.” Look forward to next year’s Super Bowl contest. Valley Market is currently participating in another promotion called the Western Family Shopping Spree. One winner will be drawn from each participating store, winning a two-minute Western Family shopping spree. Winners can win up to $175 worth of free groceries. The drawing for the shopping spree will be held Saturday, February 28, 2004. The winner need not be present at the drawing. OVBA Holds First Annual Installation Dinner at Gray Cliff Lodge Sixty-five members and guests attended the first Annual Installation dinner for The Ogden Valley Business Association (OVBA) on February 11 at the Gray Cliff Lodge in Ogden Canyon. “We want to make this an annual event. It gives us the opportunity to give back to our members and member businesses, and an opportunity to thank them for their volunteer and sponsorship efforts that have made our events, projects, and programs a success this year,” stated 2004 Board Chair Lisa Karam. “We also want to give a special thank you to Jodi and Steve Sniggs of the Gray Cliff Lodge for hosting the event and providing a delicious meal for the festivities,” continued Ms. Karam. The Association was able to “give back” to their members by giving a complimentary ticket to the dinner to each current member business. Outgoing Board Chair Paul Judd reviewed the accomplishments of the organization during 2003. These accomplishments included: The development of the www.ovba.org website by Pam Mitchell of Website by Design. The website received over 121,000 hits in 2003. The publication of the first OVBA Valley Views magazine. Increased circulation of The Valley Map project, with circulation increasing from 18,000 to 30,000 in the third printing. Paul Judd hands the gavel over to Lisa Karam the new chairperson of the OVBA. Establishment of an OVBA permanent office located in the Great American Realty building in Eden. The hiring of a part time administrative assistant, Astrid Otto. Sponsorship and participation in numerous community events, including the Ogden Valley Triathlon and Snow Dance. Support to the community through donations to the US Ski Team through proceeds from the Snow Dance; and donations to Huntsville Town Park through a portion of the proceeds from the Ogden Valley Triathlon/Taste of Ogden Valley event. The organization grew from 50 members to 96 during the year 2003. Paul Judd also recognized outgoing Board member Rob King of Rainbow Gardens. A plaque and certificates were presented to each project and event committee chair. Paul then turned the gavel over to incoming Chair, Lisa Karam.
