Show Page 4 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume VIII Issue XI September 15, 2003 Three Generations Provide Chiropractic Care Dr. Thomas T. Doxey of Eden proudly announces the addition of his son Dr. Adam T. Doxey as a partner in the family practice. Tom and Adam Doxey of Doxey Chiropractic have opened up a new office at 876 E. 12th Street in Ogden, where they hope to continue the family tradition of providing quality chiropractic care. In 1981 Tom and Renae Doxey, and their young family, moved into their new home in Eden. At this time, Tom closed his Eden General Store Chiropractic office and moved the business into his home. Tom and Renae raised six children in the Valley. All attended Valley schools, and eventually graduated from Weber High. Dr. Tom Doxey graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1979, and joined his father Dr. Frank Doxey’s business at his office in Ogden. Tom states that he grew up in Ogden, but always loved Ogden Valley. Being an avid sportsman, he knew the Valley would be a great place to raise a family, and a place to enjoy the abundance of available outdoor recreation. In 1980, he opened a part-time chiropractic office in the Eden General Store. Adam graduated from Weber High in 1995, and served an LDS mission to Paraguay. He married Katie Sims, and graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in December of 2002. Both Tom and Adam began their chiropractic practices with Dr. Frank Doxey— Tom’s father and Adam’s grandfather. He helped both of them begin their own careers, sharing his wisdom and experience gained by working in the profession for 56 years. You can contact Doxey Chiropractic by calling their new office at 801-399-9802, Monday through Saturday. Doctors Adam, Frank, and Tom Doxey. Alpine Pizza Celebrates First Anniversary One year ago on September 25, Alpine Pizza opened its doors with one thing in mind, making the best pizza possible. Owner Jim Halay practiced making pizzas for almost two weeks, testing recipes and giving samples to willing tasters. At last they opened their doors two weeks prior to their Grand Opening so they could gauge the quality of their recipes even more. The first weeks were surprising, with crowds of locals coming in to try the pizza and meet the new owner. Halay stated, “The welcome from the Valley was overwhelming and very satisfying.” Halay adds, “As we plan our first anniversary celebration we look back and see the changes we have made. We’ve added many new menu items including cheesy garlic breadsticks, hot wings, sandwiches, soups in the winter, and ice cream in the summer.” New pizzas added to the menu include the now famous Garden of Eden, Cajun, Western Bacon Cheeseburger, and Taco; as well as three Italian Classic Pizzas, the Carbonara, Margherita, and the Quattro Formagge. A dining room has been added, and pizza delivery is provided to the entire Valley—even to boaters on Pineview! “Our work to develop new pizzas is ongoing, and on many Friday and Saturday nights we pass out samples of our new recipes to customers for them to taste and critique,” states Halay. “Children and young adults will always be important customers for Alpine Pizza so we offer great discounted prices for all groups, from the Boy Scouts to Youth Soccer and church groups. Alpine Pizza supports all youth group programs in any way it can.” A favorite tradition that caught on earlier this year, and one that is likely to continue— free ice cream cones for dogs and children five years old and under. Halay states, “There is nothing more fun, than to watch as a small child or dog enjoys a free ice cream cone! Some of our best customers—dogs, children and their families have their pictures hanging on our walls.” Alpine’s first anniversary celebration began the first of September. All visitors to the pizza shop are being offered the opportunity to place their name on a ticket for the grand prize of “Pizza for a Year.” The winner will win one large pizza of their choice each month for a year. The drawing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, September 25. Cake and ice cream will be served all evening and there will be door prizes for lucky winners. Alpine Pizza wishes to thank all of their loyal customers for their kind support. “We look forward to many more years serving our Valley.” Dogs and kids under five receive free ice cream at Alpine Pizza in Eden.
