Hazel “Hess” Green Hislop SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Hazel “Hess” Green Hislop, passed away August 7, 2003 at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy illness. Hess was born December 29, 1925 in Fountain Green, Utah. She was the daughter of Wallace and Florance Huggins Green. A private graveside service was held on August 15, 2003 at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Utah. Hess changed the lives of many and brought endearing love to all. Amy and Nicky Lee Adcock of Eden had a baby boy on August 23. Eagle Scout Awards Chase Ted Holmes, 15, of Troop 249, Liberty LDS 2nd Ward, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Chase is the son of Mitch and Carol Holmes. He is a sophomore at Weber High School. Colby Rhees, 15, of Troop 249, Liberty LDS 2nd Ward, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. A wedding breakfast at Maddox was hosted for friends and family, and a reception was held in the couple’s honor that evening at Carver’s Cove in Eden. The bride is the daughter of Rod and Audrey Carver of Eden. The groom is the son of Dave and Linda Oram of Clearfield. Both Justin and Lacey are enrolled in Weber State University’s nursing program. The couple will reside in Ogden after their honeymoon in Florida. Griffin-Roylance Erwin and Karen Frederick announce the marriage of their daughter Leslie F. Griffin to Lance G. Roylance. He is the son of Greg and Julie Roylance. The couple was married August 30 in Huntsville at the home of the groom’s parents. The couple will be honored at an open house from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., September 13, at the home of the bride’s parents, 70 N. 400 East, Providence. Family and friends may attend. He was born on June 21, 1929, the son of Irvin P. and Dorothy Stephenson Martin, in Butte, Montana, where his father was mining at the time. Most of his younger days he lived in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, where he received his early schooling. He moved to Ogden, Utah in 1939 where he finished his schooling. He then married his high school sweetheart Sharon Ellsworth on October 3, 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho. They spent 57 years together. Clyde worked for Pacific Fruit Express, Naval Supply Depot, Shepherd Motor Co., Hill Air Force Base, and the Union Pacific Railroad from where he retired in 1991. After retirement, he worked at Swan Lakes Golf Course and Utah Auto Auction. He was an avid golfer and loved to play golf in this area; also, Las Vegas, Mesquite and Wendover in the winter months. He made many good friends through his employment, and through golf. He treasured his friends. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, their children; Linda Mitchell, Ogden; Marlene (Brent) King, Ogden; Paula (Mark) Marine, Salt Lake City; Jeff (Joan) Martin, Warren; Debbie (Jay) Williams, West Point and Tena Breski, Clearfield. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Travis, Trent, Heidi, Cory, Ryan, Nathan, Jessica, Kris, Jesse, Riley, Jazmann and Jayce; four step-grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers, Donna (Bob) Baker, Green Valley, AZ; Colleen (Ray) Mitchell, Lincoln, CA; Floyd (Marsha) Martin, Morgan; and Gerald (Nita) Martin, Eden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin daughters. Funeral services were held August 26, 2003 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, with Bishop Dan Phelps, officiating. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. e-mail condolences to the family at llm@lindquistmortuary.com Kenneth Arvon Long EDEN - Kenneth passed away peacefully at his home with all of his family around him. He was born August 4, 1933 in Bennett, Utah to Winfred C. and Delma Rudy Long. He married his sweetheart, Colleen Thomas on September 21, 1971 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a stake missionary twice for the White Rocks Indian mission, as well as stake missionary for his ward and stake in Eden. He was a high priest in the Eden 1st Ward. He loved to serve others; loved singing and music; loved fishing, horseback riding, gardening, woodworking, genealogy; loved the outdoors, and watching his girls and grandchildren. Kenneth was extremely friendly to everyone, and loved walking his dog. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; three daughters, Camille L. Myers, Denise (Brandon) Hadfield, Sharilee (Jacob) Bailey; four sisters, Glenice (Don) Palmer, VaLois Morrill, Larain (Gerald) Mobley, Beverly (Wayne) Cantwell; two brothers, Norman (Joyce) Long and Lowell (Fern) Long. Also surviving are seven 8/9 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jacob, and Chandler Myers; Kaleb Hadfield; McKenna, Madison, and Kylee Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred C. Long and Delma Rudy; two brothers, Gordon and Robert; two sisters, Ruth and Ina Rae Long.
