Letters to the Editor Thank You Liberty Third Ward I want to take this opportunity to thank the members and leaders of the Liberty 3rd Ward. Some of the people who have helped me were Larry and Jeannette Johnson, Dick and Delores Manley, Don and Rosemary White, Cheryl Ferrin, Kevin and Wendy Gleaves, Kathy Jones and so many young adults. This experience has been a pleasure to have occurred. I don’t think that there is a group of people in the United States that assists friends and neighbors as much as these people have us. I am not a member of their church, but have already received a great amount of blessings and help. I wish I knew everyone’s name so I could thank all of you. Liberty 3rd Ward is a guide to how we should live. A very special thank you to Ed and Shirley Rahrer for all of the wonderful help and support they have given. Thanks so very much. Pete and Barbara Bealba, Eden Thank You From Liberty District “A” Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) It’s been approximately one year since we organized, and as a note of appreciation, we wanted to thank publicly, all who have generously contributed their time and energy. We especially want to recognize all of the people in the upper end of Liberty, where our district is located, who readily accepted positions as section and group leaders. We hope we never have to use the CERT organization, but having it in place helps us sleep better at night, and lets us know that neighbors can count on each other. Natalie Post (745-9456), a new Liberty neighbor, has accepted the position of Liberty District “A” Leader. Please welcome and support her in this position. Again, thanks for all your willing support Vince and Betty Bennett, Liberty Inspirational Thought The important thing is to never stop questioning. — Albert Einstein The deadline for material for the June 15, 2002 issue is June 5, 2002. POWDER cont. from page 1 mately 3,600 acres are located in Cache County. Under the current proposal, development in Cache County would also be accessed through Weber County. The Planning Commission members sited primary concerns over road access; impact of water consumption and runoff; wildlife habitat; proposed helicopter pads for commuter traffic, as well as emergency access; petitioner’s submitted fiscal analysis; and the impact high end development would have on property taxes. During the public hearing, Ferrin stated the projected cost of the proposed 500, three to five acre, singlefamily homes would be from $2.5 to $4 million each, with lots selling for about $750,000. The average selling price for the 1000 to 1500 Condos would be $500,000. When asked by Commissioner Ferre if he really thought that the lots would sell, Ferrin replied that there weren’t really any other, or very few, lots in the world today where owners could walk out their back door to reach both a ski lift and a golf course. He further explained that he already had a commitment for the purchase of about 20 lots. The proposed premier resort community also includes plans for an observatory, museum, amphitheater, equestrian arena, hotels, restaurants, conference centers, 15 additional ski lifts, golf courses, fire station, heli-pad and small airstrip, and an interconnected pathway system. The petitioner now has the opportunity to take the proposal before the threemember Weber County Commission, which will make the final decision. Commissioners will probably hear the proposal in June or July. Referring to the Planning Commission’s recommendation for denial, Planning Commissioner Sharon Holmstrom stated, “I think our elected county commissioners need to answer these issues [that have been brought forth]. Our unanimous decision sends a strong message regarding the concerns over the impact a development of this magnitude could have.” MASSAGE THERAPY Swedish Deep Tissue Sports Injury Trigger Point Richard Smyka Licensed Massage Therapist 745-0108 Conveniently Located at Harper Rocky Mountain Chiropractic (Next to Valley Market) Call for appointment.
