Following a honeymoon to Salt Lake City, the new couple will live in Ogden. 5/6/1910 - 11/18/2001 Born and lived most of his younger years in Huntsville, Utah, later in Ogden, Utah. Survived by one sister. Married/divorced twice—both wonderful women. Three sons, three daughters, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He probably would not be considered “book smart,” because of his age when he had to quit school to help support his mother and siblings; but what a brilliant man he truly was. Through his common sense, wisdom, gifted talents, life experiences, and self taught ways there was not anything he could not do, fix or build. His plans were never written on paper— they were kept strictly in mind. From the making of a snowmobile plane, go cart, houseboat, airplane, etc. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS La Vallette and USS Yarnall for six years, which he thoroughly enjoyed and sent his entire paycheck home to his mother. He loved the great outdoors and knew like the back of his hand the beautiful Arizona desert and the splendors of the Rocky Mountains. Daddy selflessly donated his body to the “Anatomy of Science” at the University of Utah. Open letter to my Daddy - all ways and always my HERO! I tried being the best caregiver that I could be. My life revolved around yours. Everyone wanted me to put you in some home. As your youngest daughter and child, I would not hear of it! For as long as I can remember you always said you wanted to live to be at least a 100. Though it is something out of our control, I will always feel guilty that I couldn’t make that happen. Approximately a month ago you told me you weren’t going to be here much longer. You knew the Holidays were upon us soon. Perhaps you wanted to go to our eternal home this year to visit friends and family long gone. I look at your 91 earthly years and remember all your stories. I do not think there will be another generation that will witness all the amazing changes and progress that yours has seen. I shutter to think of your great grandson, (my grandson), Jr., who at the age of five, is the same age you were when given a gun for your birthday and sent alone to the mountains to herd sheep. Also starting to smoke at that age because wolves knew man was around, therefore staying away. You smoked hard-core cigarettes for 45 years, then, I’m proud to say, quit cold turkey. How extremely difficult that must have been! Do you know that Jr. always worried about his “Grandpa Great” and checked on you constantly? I am so thankful he knew you! Daddy, mere words are impossible to fully express my Love for you. You have not known any Love greater than mine. I love you for a lifetime of reasons! Of all the daughters everywhere, I feel I’ve been especially blessed. Forever and a day, Your Papoose Subscriptions available for out of area residents at $18.00 annually.
