Show The Ogden Valley news Volume XXV Issue IX Page 11 June 1, 2019 Ogden Valley Recreation Softball/ Hoping to Keep Tackle Football Baseball Registration Underway Alive in Ogden Valley Join Ogden Valley Youth are still needed to fill the Machine If you noticed that Saturday’s at Eden Park were a little quiet last year, you were right. Sadly, due to a lack of sign ups, Ogden Valley Football was not able to field a single team to play. We are hoping, due to some changes, that the Wasatch Front Football League (WFFL)—who manages all of the tackle football programs from Farmington to the Idaho border—will have football back for kids to enjoy in our area again. Ogden Valley Football has proudly been running tackle football in Eden for over 20 years. In recent years, the program has been directed by Jeff Shaw, Ty Barrong, and now Jori Torman. Five years ago our valley teams totaled four teams and over 150 players in a single season. Participation in football statewide has decreased over the past ten years. Many organizations conducted surveys to find out why. The number one reason reported was that it was too time consuming. The WFFL has recognized this issue, and made changes in an effort to help attract more players to the game. What can you expect to find NEW this year? No Labor Day Weekend Game - With special permission from the WFFL, our traditional Saturday game will be played the previous Wednesday or Thursday to allow families to Recreation for some fun with your friends this summer.
