Show Volume XXI Issue V The Ogden Valley news Page 13 June 15, 2013 Valley Fifth Graders Learn Life Skills Courtesy of Southwest Airlines First Officer Schwab with Mrs. Truett/Hillstrom’s 5th-grade class. First Officer Schwab with Mrs. Holli Sackett’s 5th-grade class at Valley Elementary. Southwest Airlines First Officer Bruce Schwab of Eden recently completed a short educational program with 5th grade students from Valley Elementary. During the program, he mentored Mrs. Holli Sackett’s, and Valley Elementary continues to honor our Valley Bulldogs who demonstrate best performance and behavior. The Top Dog award is a monthly Mrs. Angel Truett’s/Mrs. Cindy Hillstrom’s classes in award given to one student in each class. They are chosen by their teacher as a student who is continually on task, has all their work completed on aviation-themed activities related to science, geography, time, and is modeling good behavior in the classroom, bathroom, halls, lunchroom, and playground. In addition, as part of the Southwest Airlines sponsored Adopt-A-Pilot program, the students researched potential careers, the importance of developing life skills, and the vital importance of obtaining an education. The goal of the program was to help the students define, articulate, and plan for future success. There were no associated costs to the participating schools, as the program is solely sponsored by volunteer pilots.
