The second a commercial comes on, the television it’s filled with the latest health craze. When the radio comes on, the majority of the ads are about diet and weight loss. We, as a society, have become obsessed with the idea of health, or what we think health is; however, many of us actually live a lifestyle defined by finding the next quick fix. The truth is, none of these things really help the state of health that we are in. Why? Because becoming truly healthy requires more. Acquiring good health may necessitate a lifestyle change that includes a regular exercise program, proper nutrition, and a level of personal acceptance. As the owner of 12th Street Fitness, I think it is important for everyone to habits, good eating habits, and a good level of self acceptance. If we, as a society, were to take all of the time and energy used looking for the next quick fix and, instead, focus it into proper exercise, proper nutrition, and selfacceptance, we would see a huge decrease in epidemic obesity levels and a multitude of diseases, illnesses, injuries, other physical ailments, emotional problems, and, honestly, the list could go on and on. If you are looking to become healthier and to succeed in losing weight, 80% of it is tied to nutrition; up to 20%, exercise; and up to 10%, genetics. At 12th Street Fitness, we specialize in BootCamp, personal and group fitness training, and nutrition. We like to say we offer an all-in-one package. Come in and learn, not only how to exercise properly, but also how to eat properly; it doesn’t get more complicated than that. Proper exercise and proper nutrition can lead you to the best health you have ever been in.
