Knudtson 80, “Marvelous Marv” and “Dr. of Hugs,”passed away peacefully at home in Eden Utah surrounded by his loving family on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington on Marvin Knudtson March 15, 1933. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving proudly in the U.S. Navy. He married Charlotte Valentine (deceased) in 1953. After a long a long career at Xerox in Fremont, California, he married Judith Anderson Brown. Marvin was a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling his callings with great joy. Marvin is survived by his wife, Judith I. Christopher Deyne Stocker Christopher Deyne “Sid” Stocker of Ogden, Utah left this world a duller place on May 24, 2013. Charging through life at the beat of his own drum, he left doing exactly what he loved to do. He was born March 24, 1989. Deyne Stocker His well-known love affair with the infamous “Rita,” took the backseat only to his true love, Afton (Tracy) Stocker and their two beautiful children. Devoted to each other since the first day they met, June 8, 2005, they were first blessed with their daughter Addelyn Marie Stocker, born January 1, 2009; and most recently their son Knoxton Deyne Stocker, born December 18, 2011. Deyne owned and operated the Ogden based SIDS Speed Shop, earning his degree as Harley Technician from the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute in 2010. He was an accomplished motorcycle mechanic and bike builder, his life was filled with nothing short of extraordinary. He was a son, a brother, a friend; and, above all, a loving husband and father. Always moving forward, or in whatever direction he Ruth Ure Gilgen Ruth Ure Gilgen, 97, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was born October 1, 1915 to Dr. Parley James and Florence Whitaker Carver in Evanston, Illinois where her Dad was attending Ruth Gilgen North Western University. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1932; she went on to acquire several college degrees at Universities. She married Bert Ure in Ogden, and were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. They were parents of two sons, Steven C. Ure (Colleen) and Kelly B. Ure (Anna Lu), 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren. Because she chose to be a wife and mother, her professional years were limited, which was in the educational field. Most of her life she resided in the Ogden area. She and her family were dedicated LDS members and workers. I always said, “All of my great-grandparents were Utah Pioneers, and I want them to be proud of me.” She held many church positions, in the primary, mutual, relief society, and as an organist in all of them. Later in life she became an Ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple and played the chapel organ in the temple. Mr. Ure passed away in 1997. During their Knudtson, of Eden, Utah; brother Gary Ray Knudtson and wife Linda of Thousand Oaks, California; sons Scott Knudtson and wife Linda of Liberty, Utah; Craig Steven Knudtson of Eden, Utah; and Eric Edward Brown of Ogden, Utah; daughter Jennifer Isabel Horne and husband Allan of Bangkok, Thailand; grandchildren Emery Knudtson and wife Annette, Brady Knudtson and wife Meredith, Lacey Hendricksen and Husband Dan, Abbey Wagley and husband Evan, and Karly Dwyer and husband Mark; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Nicholas Knudtson and mother Alma Graham; sisters Shirley and Margarette Anderson; and infant daughter June Knudtson. A viewing and memorial service were held Monday, June 3 at Aarons Mortuary, 496 24th St., Ogden, Utah. His infectious personality, loved by many, hated by few (or many) and his insatiable lust for life left most in awe, living his life the way most people wish they could. His unparalleled work ethic, love and generosity are all exemplary traits we should strive to mimic. The impression he has left on our hearts and souls is a blessing, and will never be taken for granted. The immense void where he once stood will be impossible to fill but will act as a constant reminder to us all—dream big and live life to the fullest. “Forever Two Wheels” Deyne is survived by his parents Danice (Eric) Zulliger and Troy (Kassie) Stocker, a sister Jadyn Stocker, a brother Rylan Stocker, sister Reece Zulliger, grandmother Christiane Miller, grandfather Thomas Kidd, and a very large, loving extended family. Deyne has two uncles—Jared and Austen Miller and cousin Gavan Kidd whom he considered brothers. Friends and family were invited to remember Deyne on Wednesday, May 29 at his mother Danice’s home, located at 2144 N. 200 E., North Ogden. A celebration of Deyne’s life was held Saturday, June 1, at SIDS Speed Shop, 341 E. 35th Street Ogden, Utah. After Mr. Ure’s death, she was reunited with a college friend after 65 years. They found they belonged together. She and E. Paul Gilgen were married in 1998. They had four and one half years of eternal happiness. He passed away in 2003. Now they are reunited. She enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, organ, writing, sewing, and volunteer work. She will be eternally grateful to her son Kelly and daughter-in-law Anna Lu and their wonderful family, also my dear sister Lois, granddaughter Sherry and her many nieces and nephews, and her precious friend Chrissy Combs, and the Hulls who were always there for her. She is also survived by another son Steven and his wife (Colleen) and family, one brother J.W. Carver and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her sister Audrey, her sister-inlaw June Carver, and brothers-in-law Dunford Weston and Harry Horton. The family would like to thank Laurie Favero at Weber Human Services, Legacy Rehab Center in Layton and the staff and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital 3rd floor staff, Intermountain Hospice and Alpine Hospice for their care of Ruth. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8 at the Midland Second Ward, 3776 W. 5375 S., Roy. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park. His last memory in life was sitting by his eternal companion in their valley home watching the Indianapolis “Rocky” Rhodes 500. What a perfect way to finish his race. Powell Gordon “Rocky” Rhodes was born July 8, 1927 to Charles and Ruth Peterson in Liberty, Utah. He loved growing up in the Liberty Valley and had many fond memories of his childhood. He married the love of his life, Gwen Slater Rhodes, June 17, 1960. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an active member of the Roy 16th Ward. The greatest legacy Rocky leaves behind is his family, whom he loved more than anything. His loving wife, Gwen; Children, Marsha Prince, Ogden, Utah; Todd (Darla) Rhodes, Hooper; Terrie (Paul) Beus, Elwood; Trudy (Bryce) Peterson, West Haven; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two more great-grandsons on the way; and a loving brother Dan (Bonnie) Rhodes, Liberty. He will be greeted in heaven by his parents, a son Troy, a brother Ronald, and sisters Marjorie and Carol. There will be a great reunion and treasured memories shared. Rocky loved any type of engine or motor. From the sand dunes to the snow-covered mountains, he had a machine, that was usually built by him, to conquer it. Racing was a huge part of his life and he spent many years racing motorcycles, Sprint cars, and Midgets. Rocky is also known for making it to the top at the Widow Maker Hill Climbs with motorcycles he enhanced or rebuilt. He and Gwen took many motorcycle trips together throughout the US. Rocky was a member of the Great Basin Antique Machinery club. His favorite sound was getting his antique engines running with a “putt, putt, putt.” He was a collector of anything antique, especially tractors, engines, and farm equipment. One of his favorite pastimes was panning for gold. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the countryside. In his younger days he was a truck driver and explored many different states. He loved the beauty of the earth, moon, and stars. He spent 43 years of his life driving a bus for the Weber School District. He owned and operated an automotive garage in Riverdale for many years. He had various jobs from real estate to selling tools, but he always made time for farming. He loved watching the fields grow and harvesting them. He was a hard worker and always knew the value of a dollar. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 16th Ward, 2525 W. 4500 S., Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Interment in the Liberty Cemetery. Deceased Lucille F. Hegsrom Miller, 76, died May 17, 2013. Le Grant Fuller Shreeve, 85, died on May 26, 2013. Bonnie Bourne Smith, 73, died on June 3, 2013. Don L.
