Show The Ogden Valley news Page Volume XVIII Issue XIII December 15, 2010 Announcements Young Womanhood Award Karlee Elaine Dickson, 18, daughter of Douglas and Tym Dickson of Liberty, has received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award. She is a member of the Liberty 2nd Ward, and a graduate of Weber High School. The Young Womanhood Recognition Award is given to young women who, through the LDS Young Women’s program, complete various projects for personal growth, and church and community service. Obituaries Mary Benton Palmer “Together Again” Mary Palmer Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Benton Palmer, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010. She was born July 6, 1932 in Ogden to Robert and Leona Benton. On September 12, 1953, Mary married Lavon Page Palmer in Elko, Nevada. They were married for 49 years. Lavon preceded her in death on September 20, 2002. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mary made her home in Washington Terrace for 52 years. She dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children with love and patience. She enjoyed spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She always gave each one special attention and was an excellent example of love and patience. Surviving are her six children, David (Debora) Palmer, Syracuse, UT; James Palmer, Washington Terrace; Richard (Patty) Palmer, Roy; Joy (Delbert) Morris, Eden; Michelle (Mark) Hirschi, Washington Terrace; Carol (Richard) Tonks, North Ogden; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one sister, Roberta Martinez, Layton; and one brother, Don (Vera) Benton, Northridge, CA. Preceding Mary in death were her husband, her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Obituaries Jed Paul Collin Naisbitt Jed Paul Collin (known as Cole) Naisbitt died Saturday, November 20, 2010 while stationed in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas. Cole passed away in the prime of his life from a gunshot Jed Naisbitt wound by an unknown assailant for an unknown reason. Ruby Stephens Robinson Ruby Stephens Robinson was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 26, 2010 after a lifetime of selfless, dedicated service to family and others. Ruby Robinson her No woman had a greater capacity to love and help her fellow man. Her compassion was unequaled. Her mortal presence will be greatly missed. Ruby was born at home in Riverdale, Utah to Verna May Child and Jesse Monroe Stephens on May 12, 1927. She attended elementary schools in Riverdale and Tremonton and attended Bear River and Weber High Schools, and was in the nursing program during World War II. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State College in 1993 at the age of 66. Ruby married Howard Archie Robinson on March 24, 1947 in Elko, Nevada. They were sealed a year later in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. At Ruby’s urging, they had nine children together. A devoted wife, Ruby helped Howard build a successful refuse business and build two homes. But it was her overwhelming love for her children that made her life complete. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ruby dedicated countless hours serving in the Blazer B Scouts, Mutual, Primary, Relief Society, R. Glen Taggart Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Richard Glen Taggart passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 1, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1929, in Ogden, Utah to Ray Heiner Taggart and Margaret R. Glen Taggart Lavon Pickett Taggart. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. Dad married his high school sweetheart Sharol Braegger on February 4, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. His greatest love is his wife of 61 years; their six children, Doug (Erin) of Liberty, Becky McBride of Plain City, Connie (David) Graves of Brigham City, Rick (Michelle) of Kaysville, Keith of Kaysville, and Jill (Collin) Homer of Valley Springs, South Dakota; their 26 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren (3 more on He was a fun-loving, gregarious person who will be forever missed by his family and friends. Cole is survived by his mother Pam Oldroyd, father Jed Naisbitt, sister Tiffany Winger, and brother Steele Naisbitt. Cole’s memorial service was held Friday, December 3 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. in Ogden. A special remembrance and celebration of his life was held at the Ben Lomond Hotel, in Ogden. Her love of the gospel and insurmountable faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She opened her home to Navajo students and others in need. Her service and compassion enriched all who came in contact with her. Ruby also served her community as PTA President and Utah delegate for the Republican Party. Her many hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and sewing; and she never missed an opportunity to snap a photograph. She also looked forward to spending time with her many friends. Ruby is survived by four sons and four daughters, Randy Robinson and Leanne Ingles of Clinton; Lori (Rod) Clark, Linda Webb, all of West Point; Steven (Karen) Robinson of Riverdale; Loni Johnson of Huntsville; David (Gloria) Robinson of North Ogden; and Nathan (Tonya) Robinson of West Haven. She is also survived by a sister, Beth Woodbury of Roy; a brother, Don Stephens of Leeds; and 26 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her son Paul; her parents; two brothers, Garth and Robert Stephens; a sister, Evelyn Stephens; a grandson, Andrew Robinson; and a great-grandson, Haden Chilson. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 1 at the Clinton 15th Ward Chapel, 2841 West 1300 North. Ruby was laid to rest next to her husband and son at the Clinton Cemetery.
