This party, which signifies the kick-off to the ski season, was held at Pineview Lodge at Wolf Creek Utah. Guests were entertained by the local sounds Shades of Gray while bidding on auction items and dining on delicious fare provided by Harley & Buck’s Grill. The highlight of the evening was an inspiring keynote address by three-time Olympian Heidi Voelker. Nearly $14,000 was raised at the event to support the Ogden Valley Winter Sports Foundation and to further the goals of The Ogden Valley Business Association. The mission of The Ogden Valley Business Association is to enhance the quality of life for citizens of Ogden Valley (including Ogden Adamson, and Julie Rogers. LeRoy Jennings has been painting the local Canyon) through the promotion and developlandscape for more than 50 years because he loves looking at it. Working in oil on boards, he captures vignettes of living along the Wasatch Front. David Wolfgram began making wooden drums in the late 90’s. “I’m fascinated by the curves and the radius, and the color combinations in different types of wood,” David says. “I want people to see that it’s still a piece of wood, but I also want to show how refined it can be—there’s balance for me between revealing the beauty of the wood and forming the design. I start with an idea, but then sometimes the wood will inspire me by its shape and curve and texture.” Necklaces by 21st Century Barbarians, AKA Caril Jennings, are not for the demure. Most of these natural stone creations are bold in either size, color, or ornaments made from metal, wood, seeds, and glass. Bead material includes turquoise, purple striped fluorite; amethyst, coral, amber, copper, silver, and pearls. Suresh Shivdasani photographs subjects that trigger a response in him—either visually or emotionally. He then digitally reworks pieces to convey moods and feelings. He makes archival prints with pigment inks on fine art photographic paper or stretched canvas so as to enhance the original colors and textures. For more information about this exhibit, contact Benjamin Jennings at 801-458-8959. Local Artists Showcase Holiday Gifts at Universe City Universe City will feature Holiday Presence, beautiful gifts for those you love or want to impress. Since the early years of his life, Craig Haaser has had his “hands in clay.” Inspired by nature Craig sought the knowledge needed to achieve his artistic dream. He works full-time in his Studio, Outback Pottery, creating pots and free-form clay expressions that mirror his love for Utah’s scenery. Whether he accents a “critter pot” with well critters or embeds a leaf into one of his decorative plates, Craig shares with his buyers his respect for nature’s harmony and generosity. Roberta Glidden’s oil painting represent recent explorations into the local landscape. Her process is to paint a smaller study outdoors (en plein air) from which she develops a larger piece in her home studio.
