Children scamper to find that perfect costume. Parents hope they can endure the onslaught of candy. Whatever experience Halloween brings to you, we all want a safe place for our children to experience this fall holiday. In its seventh year, Snowcrest’s annual Halloween Carnival offers a safe, fun place for the entire family to enjoy the Halloween tradition. from this event directly benefit the students at Snowcrest Jr. High. Last year’s proceeds helped procure computer smart boards— turning whiteboards into touch screens as an extension of each computer. It is amazing and useful technology. The PTO always welcomes donation suggestions. Come and join the fun on October 30 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. See you there! Creepy Crawlers @ the Weber County Ogden Valley Branch Library The Ogden Nature Center is coming to your library, and they’re bringing some of their creepy, crawly friends! Join us for a free, special Halloween program, and meet some of the Ogden Nature Center’s captivating creatures. Get up close and personal with reptiles and spiders. The creepy event will be held at the Ogden Valley Branch library on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. Ogden Valley Library Halloween Party! Join us for tricks, treats, and other ghoulish fun—stories, face painting, and more! Hope to see you on Saturday, October 31 at 3:00 p.m. You won’t want to miss it. After School Program The library’s After School Program is held every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the library. Youth can come and enjoy a new activity every week. The Youth Chess Club meets every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. following the After School Program. Come by and see what we’ve got planned @ your library! Eccles Dinosaur Park, located at the bottom of Ogden Canyon, is hosting their annual Halloween “Night of the Living Dinosaurs” this haunted holiday. The Park offers family-friendly trick-or-treat activities Thursday through Saturday in October, and the Trail of Terror for those who dare on Halloween eve and night. For nine nights only, little witches and goblins can trick-or-treat in the ultimate prehistoric neighborhood during the Night of the Living Dinosaurs. The Park will be decked out for the spookiest (but not too scary) adventure into the unknown. Activities for all ages will take place on October 8-10, 15-17, and 22-24 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Utah Kids Club and their friends will hand out complimentary candy and goodies throughout the park. Costume contests will be held nightly and a free bounce house will be available for all the kids to enjoy. Hot chocolate, smore roasting, scones, and hot dogs will be offered for an affordable price. Regular admission fees apply and members will receive a discount. “The Night of the Living Dinosaurs at the Park in Ogden has gained a reputation as one of the top Halloween attractions in Utah. From our trick-or-treat nights for families to our Trail of Terror for shrill-seekers, there is something for everyone,” said Kevin Ireland, manager of the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park. On Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, the Park will hold their Trail of Terror from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. The eightacre park will be terrorized by mysterious legendary creatures that have broken free from a Cryptozoology exhibit for a Tyrannosaurus Rex-size classic haunt. The two-night scream is even bigger than last year and is not for the very young or timid. Recommended age is 16 years or older. The cost to participate in the Trail of Terror is $10 per person (not the normal Park price). Members receive 50 percent off admission. “We have expanded the Trail of Terror course this year to make it bigger, darker, and superspooky. It is an unforgettable haunt that will play with your mind and leave you wondering if you too will become extinct,” said Ireland. The Eccles Dinosaur Park hosts a number of festive activities throughout the year. The park features more than 100 realistic, life-sized dinosaurs based on actual fossil skeletons. The dinosaurs are brought to life by robotics, artistic details and state-of-the-art sound systems. The park is located at 1544 East Park Boulevard. Regular admission price is $5 for children, $7 for adults, and $6 for seniors and students. The park offers Dinosaur Park memberships and facilities for special events such as birthday parties. Fashion, Refreshments, Entertainment, Snowcrest and Prizes—First annual fashion show fundraiser Jr. High Chic Style and Diamond Peak will present the First Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser to benefit Snowcrest Junior High on November 6 at 7:00 p.m.; admission is $2.00. The community is invited to Snowcrest to see the latest fall and winter fashions available from our own Ogden Valley clothing boutique, Chic Style; and also Diamond Peak Mountain Sports. Fashion at its finest will be showcased on the runway by forty local models. Tiny tots and children, teens from Snowcrest and Weber High, and adults and teachers from our Valley schools will all be hitting the runway in super chic styles of the season to raise money for Snowcrest Jr. High. “This fashion show is a fun way to bring the community together and raise money for Snowcrest,” said D’Arcy Vandenberg, owner of Chic Style. “There will be fashion for boys and girls along with refreshments and entertainment. We hope everyone will come support this fundraiser and have a good time.” Diamond Peak will be displaying this year’s hottest sports and winter apparel for boarders, skiers, and anyone interested in keeping warm and looking great this season. Lori Mortensen from Diamond Peak said, “Diamond Peak has always carried the latest in winter apparel, and this fashion show will be a different way to present this year’s fashion trends to our locals. In this economy, it is nice to give back to the community that has supported us for sixteen years.” Models will also be sporting fun hair ideas by stylists from Valley Hair. Come see the great new trends for hair this winter. You’ll see everything from last minute ponies and buns to fancy up-dos worthy of a winter dance. These fabulous fashion moments will all be captured by professional photographer Ann Montgomery, owner of Anniemations Photography. Ann’s incredibly creative eye will be on the lookout for moments we’ll all want to remember. A small gallery of Ann’s work will also be on display. Set design is by Kristal Schweppe. Admission is just $2.00 and is free to anyone age three and under. Any additional donations will be gladly accepted. Everyone will be welcome to some tasty refreshments donated by Eats of Eden. Entertainment will be by Theresa Ellis and Kris Evans. Both women are prominent Utah artists performing with Girls with Guitars. As the choir, band, and orchestra instructor at Snowcrest, Ellis has a vested interest in helping. For this event “Two Girls with Guitars” will be graciously donating their time to perform as the intermission entertainment. As an added bonus, you won’t want to miss out on a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from Chic Style or Diamond Peak. Anyone who brings a gently-used coat or canned-food donation to benefit the Utah Food Bank will be entered into the drawing. This could be your chance to actually own your favorite items from this night of fashion fun.
