Show The Ogden Valley news Page Volume XVI Issue XII June 15, 2009 Announcements Births Weddings Obituaries Faye Pilkington Eric Bishop Eric Bishop was born Tuesday, the 19th of May, 2009 at 5:19 in the morning to Wayne, Jewel, and Ashley Bishop of Eden. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz., and was 20½ inches long at birth. Weddings June Willard June Folkman Willard of Liberty recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Family and friends are invited to attend an open house to be held in her honor from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Liberty Park, 4100 N, Hwy 162, June Willard Liberty. June was born June 10, 1919 in Plain City, Utah to Lester G. and Grace Selman Folkman. In her youth she worked on the family farm cutting asparagus and selling it for a nickel a pound. She was a seamstress until retiring from Utah Tailoring in 1982. She has lived in Liberty since 1951. She married Frank M. Neilson and later divorced. She then married J. Parley Willard, now deceased. Parley and June operated the Willard and Western Rodeo Companies. They always said, “We never made much money, but we sure had a lot of fun.” June enjoys crocheting and cooking, and watching Utah Jazz Basketball and the Price is Right. She makes wonderful cakes, pies, and chicken soup. Her daughters and their spouses are Eileen and Bill Hadlock, Sharon and Jack Hadlock, and Shirley and Dennis Montgomery. She has 10 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Faye P. Pilkington, 87, passed away May 20, 2008 at The Gardens assisted living. She was born August 13, 1921 in Ogden, Utah to Milton and Mary Robertson Pence. She was reared and Faye Pilkington educated in Ogden, graduating from Ogden Jason and Laura Drake High School. In 1939 she married the love of her life, Jay Pilkington, in Ogden Utah. Wojcik - Drake Faye worked for L.R. She married Hugh Milton Smith May 30, 1942 in Los Angeles, California; he preceded her in death on June 20, 1997. Nadine was a member of the LDS Church; she served as Relief Society President in Florida and, also, for many years in the Primary organization. She supported her husband Hugh when he served as Bishop and Returning Missionaries Isabel Lindsay Clinton and Corey Calder Elder Clinton Glen Calder and Elder Corey Grant Calder are returning home from their mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on June 19. They will report on their mission June 28 at 10:50 a.m. at the Huntsville Stake Center, Middlefork Ward. Clint is recently returned from the France Toulouse Mission and Corey from the Milan Italy Mission, where they have served for the past two years. They are the sons of Glen and Meridee Calder. Isabel Daugherty Lindsay passed away May 30, 2009. She was born in Dixon Wyoming on December 9, 1927. Her parents were Ivan and Ivy Daugherty of Baggs Wyoming. Her husband is Robert (Bob) Lindsay of Huntsville, Isabel Lindsay Utah. Isabel and Bob have lived in Huntsville for 39 years. She worked at the Internal Revenue Service Center in Ogden for 16 years before retiring. She was an active member of the DOES club (ELKS auxiliary) and loved photography and travel. Isabel is survived by her husband, Bob, Michael Jay Carver “Moxey” Michael Jay Carver “Moxey,” a friend to all who added a personal touch to everything he did. Our beloved brother, brother-in-law, and uncle died in a tragic car Michael Carver accident Saturday, June 6, 2009. Michael was born in Ogden, Utah, January 9, 1952 to Truman H. and Vivian Herrington Carver. He lived his childhood in Clinton and resided in the Kaysville/Bountiful area the balance of his years. He graduated from Davis High School, then attended and graduated from Weber State University with a business degree. Michael was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings, currently as a Primary teacher, this being his favorite. Having the opportunity to serve a mission in England Coventry was a life time experience he always cherished. He loved his church and the people in it. He was a gifted teacher and influenced many lives. Michael will be remembered with a heart larger than life. He always thought of others before himself. He was loyal, caring, and creative in everything he did. The one trait Church. She enjoyed walking her dog Doogle everyday, appreciating the beauty of the outdoors and mountain views in Ogden. Faye enjoyed gardening and extensive travels with Jay, her dog, and friends. Faye is survived by one son, Gary (Shirley) Pilkington of Liberty; one daughter, Ruth (Michael) Bick of Harrisville; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Brent Pilkington and husband Jay. The family thanks, Linda with Access Hospice and the loving care given to mom by the staff at The Gardens assisted living in Ogden. Graveside services were held Friday, May 29, 2009 at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd. in Ogden. on the High Council in the Miami Florida Stake. Nadine was the Queen of Entertainment, the Decorating Diva, and the master of the Shopping Cart. She created a beautiful yard no matter where she lived. She is survived by her two sons, Steven Clare (Judy) Smith and Warren (Debby) Smith, both of Eden; 8 biological grandchildren and 11 grandchildren by marriage; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 5 sisters. A viewing was held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, on May 28. Interment at the Oakmont Cemetery, in Lafayette, California. Special thanks to those who cared for her at Pine View and for those who visited; especially Ruthann Bushell. Graveside services were also held at the Heber City cemetery in Heber City, Utah. The family would like to thank the Hospice staff from IHC and the Family Tree assisted living facility in Morgan, Utah for their recent care. Like an artist putting the final signature on his creation, Michael added the personal finishing touch to everything he did. He was one of a kind. He loved and cherished his nieces and nephews. He was always a practical joker. His favorite times were visiting friends, shopping, holiday parties, and attending Salt Lake and San Francisco Broadway Productions. Family and friends will never forget this loss of a brother and loving friend. Michael is survived by his brother Truman R. (Kathleen) Carver, Kaysville; sister-inlaw Carol Carver, Eden, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Brent Carver. Funeral services were held Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Bountiful 54th Ward Chapel, 540 N. 1200 E. Interment Kaysville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, Primary Children’s Medical Center, or the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Michael’s name would be greatly appreciated.
