She was the seventh of eight children born to William Chadwick and Jane Woodfield Vera Smith of Liberty, Utah. Vera married Daniel Max Smith and they are the parents of two children. Vera was a wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. Vera taught school at Tolman Elementary, and was the librarian at Viewmont High and Bountiful Junior Troy J. Sackett Troy Sackett Troy J. Sackett, 45, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2008. He was born on December 18, 1962 to Renee Thomas Hunter and Jack McKay Sackett in Ogden, Utah. He was raised and educated in Ogden and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1981. On August 1, 1986 Troy married Holli Harwood. They lived in Ogden and later built their dream home in Huntsville, Utah. They were blessed with two children, Tess McKel and Jaxson J. and their dog Jaegger. They were the love of Troy’s life. Troy lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and risking life at all times. Troy was a sheet metal worker for 26 years. Most of this time was spent at Superior Air in Clearfield, and he was an WOMAN cont. from page 1 High Schools. She leaves a legacy of service and good deeds to all who knew and loved her. In her later years she provided hundreds of quilts to the needy and even more “Love Bears” that went to children all over the world. Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Max, and all of her seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, Chad (Karla); a daughter, Candace; granddaughters Angelia (Michael) Polson, Kristie (Clint) Hutchings, and Stacie (Mark) London; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Bountiful 24th Ward Chapel, 720 E. 550 N. Interment North Ogden Cemetery. He also worked on snowmobiles, cars, and trucks, and prided himself on being able to fix anything. He taught his son to take everything apart and put it back together. He is survived by his wife, Holli; his two children; his parents; and his brothers Tommy (Chris) and Brandon. He is also survived by six nephews: Wyatt, Dylan, Gage, Evan, Conlin, and Carter; and two nieces, Haileigh and Sienna, whom he loved dearly and always. He will be missed by his in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Troy will be remembered for his funny sense of humor, his attitude, and reckless ways that often got him in a lot of trouble! A gathering was held for family and friends on July 5 at Leavitt’s Mortuary in Ogden. Graveside services were held at the Ogden City Cemetery. Returning to the saga of five tons of wheat dropped off in front of her garage on a summer day in 1999, one thing has led to another; after continuously being asked for recipes, she decided to create a cookbook with the help of her friend Sandy Phelps. The final result—“Wheat Cookin’ Made Easy.” It’s now in its second edition, and Crockett is currently working with her publisher on an expanded third edition. The highlight on Pam in Country Woman is a two-page spread with lots of fun pictures of Pam and her family. They show her working in her garden, giving wheat demonstrations, and working in the kitchen with many of her 25 grandchildren whom, she says, are no strangers to her kitchen and her baking projects. Charles Robert (Bob) Shupe Charles Robert (Bob) Shupe, 80, passed away at McKay Dee Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Huntsville, Utah to Charles Daniel Charles Shupe Shupe and Anna Helen Kelly Shupe. Bob was involved with WWII and the Korean Conflict. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, spending time with friends and family, and spending time out in his yard. He married Helen M. Colt January 5, 1957; they later divorced. He is survived by one son, Roy (Kayce) Shupe, Rock Springs; three daughters, Norine Hoskins Mecham Surrounded by her loving family, Norine Hoskins Mecham, 82, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, July 7, 2008. Born July 11, 1925 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Norine Mecham Theresa and Elijah Van Hoskins, Norine was the oldest of eight children. She was faced with responsibility at an early age, for much of her childhood was spent working in the fields of Idaho with her parents. After earning a college degree and R.N. at Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital, she enlisted in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. After the war she met her husband Darrell G. Mecham while dancing at the White City Ballroom in Ogden. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple May 8, 1947 and made their home and raised their family in Marriott. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various ward callings and especially loved that of being a Primary teacher. Until her retirement, she had worked as an R.N. at Thomas Dee Memorial, St. Benedict’s, and Ogden Regional Hospitals; and Weber-Morgan Health Department and Weber School District. She was an active member of D.U.P. Norine was a very compassionate person, an extremely hard worker, and always ready to use her knowledge and experience to help those around her, especially her family. Norine is survived by her husband, Darrell, of Marriot-Slaterville; chil- Brenda Fulmer, Farr West; Kathie (Steve) Jackson, Banks, Oregon; and Lucilee (Robert) Fuller, Ketchum, Idaho. He is also survived by four sisters: Charlene Russell, Ogden; Helen (Ralph) Hansen, Huntsville; Janice O’Driscoll, Kamas; and Debby Frost, Riverdale; five brothers: Roger (Lynette), North Ogden; Michael (Peneloe), S. Weber; Richard (Louise), Ogden; Dan (Barbara), S. Weber; and Jerry (Becky), Claremore, OK; and several grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas K. Shupe. Cremation under the direction of Leavitt’s Mortuary. Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. The family would like to thank the wonderful family, friends, and neighbors for their support and prayers, as well as Dr. Brent Williams and the IHC Hospice organization.
