Show Page The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue V February 15, 2008 Announcements Birthdays Elma Stromberg Clarke Obituaries Norman J. Montgomery Norman J. Montgomery of Huntsville celebrated his 80th birthday at his home with his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. He was born on Norman Montgomery January 27, 1928 in North Ogden to Leland J. and Ellen Harrison Montgomery. He married Joyce Ferrell on January 16, 1953, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His children and their spouses are Ronald and Jeanie Montgomery, John and Julie Lund, David and Linda Knowles, and Larry and Denise Montgomery, all of Huntsville. He has eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He has been a farmer and rancher all his life. He and his wife have lived on their ranch for most of their 55 years of marriage. He has been active in the LDS Church all his life, serving a mission in England, and as bishop of the Huntsville LDS Ward along with serving in many other capacities. He also has had many great and lasting experiences serving on the Huntsville East Township Planning Commission and as president of the Weber Basin Water Users Association Board of Directors. The greatest joy in his life is having his family living close to him on the ranch, and enjoying his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Elma Stromberg Clarke celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at an open house from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February Elma Clarke 9, at her home. Born in Huntsville on February 7, 1908 to Alfred and Elizabeth Stromberg, she was given the name Elma Christine Stromberg. The family moved from Huntsville to Ogden in 1919. She has been a member of the Ogden LDS 20 th and 4 th Wards since that time. She attended Dee Elementary School, Central Junior High School, Ogden High School, and Weber College. She worked at Defense Depot Ogden, Community Chest, Red Cross, Weber State College, and assisted her husband in running their neighborhood grocery store, Clarke’s Market. She was married to C. Clarence “Frog” Clarke on November 20, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her children and their spouses are Richard and Marilyn Clarke, Barbara and Gary Peterson, and Darrell and Debra Clarke. She has 8 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
