The girls train year-round, often traveling away from home for extensive summer training. This year, Sarah will attend a summer intensive with The Washington Ballet; Chelsea, who earned a full tuition scholarship from The Rock School in Philadelphia, will travel to Pennsylvania for the summer; and Kaitlin, who is the eldest of the three, will attend Raymond’s Summer Intensive so she can continue to work locally. Wolf Creek Resort and Hill Air Force Base Co-Sponsor Family Relief Retreat Wolf Creek Resort, Valley Lodging at Wolf Creek, and the 75th ABW Chapel of Hill Air Force Base recently partnered to produce the first “Family Relief Weekend” held April 7-9 at Wolf Creek Resort in Eden. The event brought families together for an enjoyable family retreat before family adults will be deployed to Iraq. Most will be deployed within six weeks of the event. Steve Roberts, Managing Member of Wolf Creek Properties, explained how the weekend idea came about. “We met Chaplain David Haltom when members of our Leadership Team were volunteering at the Ogden Rescue Mission. Chaplain Haltom was there delivering a short service and we began a dialogue about his role at Hill Air Force Base. When he presented the idea to us, we felt this was something that we could possibly make happen. Chaplain Brandon Parker called a few weeks later with his vision of the program and the dates, and we got the ball rolling.” Chaplain Parker noted, “We realize how painful and fightening it is for families to have a loved one deployed overseas. We felt that if we could develop a family retreat, it would not only give the families some true quality time before the onset of the upheaval in their lives, but also provide them with a chance to meet and bond with other families in the same situation. We knew they would enjoy having the support, both emotional and moral, of other families as it relates to dealing with children’s concerns over their “missing” parent, sharing ideas on financial panne. child care, reunion issues, etc.” ue to the Global War on Terror, Chaplain Haltom indicated that funds for this type of essential programming are limited. re happy to step in and underwrite the difference in costs, and while we provided a significant financial contribution to this event, its RETREAT The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) held the Tae Kwonmn Do Utah State Championships on March 25 in Salt Lake City.
