The show includes works in various media, and depicts a range of subject matter such as pencil studies in form and shade, vibrant oil pastel florals, graphite =I Master of Music degree from Eastman. This concert will feature selections from Fletcher’s newest Centaur Records release, Peter Fletcher Plays Erik Satie. Other repertoire will include the ever popular Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega; transcriptions of the French Composers Maurice Ravel (Pavane for a Dead Princess), and Francois Couperin (The oe ious Barricades); Robert de Visée; J. S. Bach’s Prelude, Fugue and Allegro; and Variations on a Theme of Mozart by Fernando The concert will culminate — an intensely powerful contemporary w classical guitar by the Italian guitarist and composer Domeniconi entitled Koyunbaba, also recorded by Fletcher. The performance will be held in the lobby of the Main Library, which is located at 2464 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden. All programs are free and open to the public and no registration is required. Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher to Perform at Weber County Main Library The Weber County Main Library is pleased to present a live concert featuring the nationally-renowned classical guitarist Peter Fletcher on May 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m Fletcher began his guitar study at the age of seven under classical guitar instructor John Sutherland. At the age of 15, Fletcher gave his first concert under the auspices of The Brasstown Concert Association in North Carolina, performing works Bach, Torroba, Mudarra, Albéniz, Praetorius, Debussy, Grieg, and Ruiz Pipo. He furthered his studies in Master Classes with Jose Tomas, David Leisner, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia, Pepe Romero, and Benjamin Verdery. As a performer in the Christorpher Parkening Master Class, he was chosen to play in the student recital two consecutive years, and in 1988, the class was broadcast on National Public Radio. In 1990, the Music Teacher’s National Association awarded Fletcher a prize at its National Competition. In 1993 he studied with Nicholas Goluses at the Eastman School of Music and was twice the recipient of an Eastman Graduate Award. Fletcher holds a Lorna The Ogden Valley Branch Library will be continuing its adult book discussions with a series devoted to the life of one of the preeminent spiritual figures of the twentieth century, Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda. Hailed as the father of Yoga in the West, Yogananda describes his experiences and training with modern-day saints and illumined masters of India, and explains with scientific clarity the subtle but definite laws by which yogis perform miracles and attain self-mastery. This discussions series ie be led by Lynne D. Finney, J.D., Lynne D. omnes J.D., M.S.W., is an author, educator, retired attorney and psychotherapist, life coach, and motivational speaker who specializes in helping people live more fulfilling lives and create new realities. She has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV shows, including Leeza, and Larry King Live and has made appearances on the radio and television networks such as NPR, ABC, CBS, NBC, KTKK. Book discussions will be held at 7:00 p.m. as follows: May 16: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda (Chapters 1-30). The first discussion will cover the early life and spiritual education of Master Yogananda. May 30: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda (Chapters 30-49). The final discussion will focus on the deeper spiritual messages of Master Yogananda and his travels to the United States. Programs are FREE and open to the public.
