It’s time again for preparations for the 4th of July and the Liberty Park board is looking 2 for volunteers. We need people to help throughout the day. Please show some community spirit and volunteer! We also have booth space available for rent. The day will begin bright and early with breakfast at 7:30, followed all day with park games and activities, and more food and fun. The celebration will end with fireworks at dusk. Wolf Creek Offers Summer Activities Wolf Creek is anticipating another great summer. The pool area, which opened on Memorial Day weekend, and the Recreation Center is open to all our guests and members. There are plenty of activities planned for everyone: swim sand volleyball, horseshoes, tennis, crocket, arcade games, billiards, as well weight room, sauna, and hot tube facilities. Along with summer Wolf Creek is al h imming and tennis lessons throughout the season. Swimming lessons will begin June 21 and will run for two weeks. Signups will begin the week before. For more information about swimming lessons, contact Kathy Allen at 745-2709. Tennis lessons will also begin in June. There will be different classes offered for all different skill levels; private lessons are also being offered. All scheduling is being facilitated by Melodie Hansen, who can be reached at 745-3545. OVBA Celebrates 4th Anniversary— Hires ~ Lisa Karam Executive Th onth of April marked the fourth anniversary of the Ogden Valley Business Association (OVBA). The organization recently hired Lisa aram =. as its Executive Director. The completely sheer run organization has grown to just under 100 members since its formation. “With the quick growth of the OVBA, it has become necessary to hire a parttime — Director to manage the daily affairs of anization,” states OVBA Chair Jeannie Wendell “We advertised and interviewed several candidates for the position but the most natural fit for our growing organization was Lisa.” Lisa, along with Paul Judd and Clair Beasley, were the founding directors of the organization, which was established in 2001. “T am thrilled to take on this new position for Director such a dynamic and growing organization,” states Karam, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position from working with Chambers of Commerce and non-profit organizations in the area. She is the former Chair of the Board of the OVBA and also The Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her role in establishing the OVBA, she also contributed to the development of its bylaws, and policies and procedures. Ferguson states, “We’re happy for the opportunity to serve the people in Ogden Valley and to be able to take care of their shopping needs; we are happy to be a part of the community.” Shoppers will still be able to see the familiar face of Roger Terry who has grown the store over the past several years. Ferguson and Hancock say that, for the most part, it will be business as usual, as they carry on the great management style that Roger implemented when he took over ownership. Hancock and Ferguson met about nine years ago when Tom began dating Hancock’s daughter, who he eventually | married. “We've had a great relationship since,” states Ferguson. “We both have extensive backgrounds in the grocery business. Terry has been a salesman for several dif- ferent food the switch to the retail side of the business about eight years ago. It’s hard to find anybody who has been in the grocery business for a while that doesn’t know Terry (Hancock). Once you have met Terry, it’s really hard not to like him. I have been in the retail grocery business for most of my life also; my father was a grocer and I kind of naturally moved into it as well.” The new owners have added a Western Union money transfer station, and have added dry ice to the list of items that can be purchased at the market. Ferguson and Hancock say they are happy to take See and suggestions from customers and to place special orders. Customers wanting to buy items by the case can now do so at a reduced product price. To celebrate the transfer of business ownership, Hancock and Ferguson are hosting a Community Appreciation Breakfast at the market on June 18 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Everyone is Welcome!
