Show August 24, 2001 The Summit County Bee South Summit Senior Cifizens BY C1IER1 BEAL Bonnie hung on to the cash. Among those to join in on the fun were Glen and Mary Smith. Aunt Jean McNeil (you can be sure Elmer would have done a little fancy footin' had he been there), Glennis Phelps, LaRue Smith, Barbara Prescott. Arlene Wilde (another of those Wilde ones), LaRae Johnson, Wanda Loella Chamberlain, Simmons. Lydia Carpenter, Myrla Snyder, Edna Atkinson, Thelma Wilde, Claude and Jane Maxwell, Miss Elaine Atkinson, Twila our Lewis, Crandall, Boyd President, Bill Trivett, and DeLoy and Louise Bisel. Now if I missed anyone don't blame me. We Seniors do have our Senior moments, and besides that, I wasn't even there dam it all! Sources say that everyone enjoyed a scrumptious roast beef dinner at the Center on Monday, topped off with Lemon Meringue tarts. It was announced that we would have our dinner on Saturday. Oct. 6 in Francis. Entertainment will be provided by the Phoenix Band so mark that date on your calendars so you don't miss it. Glen and Mary have another of those wonderful trips scheduled to Tuacahn on the 28th, 29th and 30th of August. I'm told they may have a seat or two left so if you're interest- -' ed give them a call, your money My news source told me that IS of our members rode down on the bus, along with many other to attend the Dutch-ove- n dinner in lead me to Hoytsville. Reports believe the meal was There was chicken, pork and beef cooked to perfection served with rice and vegetables, a tossed salad, juicy watermelon and Dutch-ove- n peach cobbler for dessert yummy. Little Miss Broadway" was the entertainment again and took quite a fancy to Tom Bates and Blaine Gines (they must have had "cash"). Then I hear Windy Wilde took a turn with the little lady on the dance floor, ya gotta keep an eye on the Wilde ones and I'll just bet Bradley J. The shows will be Music Man and Oklahoma, not to mention the slots, food and guaranteed fun (unless you're the party pooper)! I also heard that Kendrick Woolstenhume is going to come to the Center and play a few tunes for us before he takes off to Scotlaryl on a mission. Peter Sorenson will pluck the guitar while Kendrick plunks on the piano. We got an early taste of his abilities on the ole piano at the Friends and Stake Family. Neighborhood dinner last Saturday. I've heard these boys play before and I'm sure we're in for a real treat! Everyone enjoyed the little doggers who stomped out their routines on a trailer for us. We reminisced to a couple of Merle Haggard songs sung by our own Gerald Atkinson. Marvin Lewis said he didn't know if we could sanction the white lightnin or not" but Gerald did a fantastic job! Aren't we grateful to have these opportunities to socialize with one another and to-- meet new friends? Be a friend and remember what a wise but unknown person had to Page A7 North Summit Senior Citizens BY I.OLTSK WALLACE take a week off and what happens. I totally lost my sense of concentration, that's what. Can't even figure out how to get started this morning. Guess the best way is to take one meeting at a time so here goes. On Aug. 8. we had the pleasure of honoring Frank Toole, a young gentleman on his 91st birthday and he's still acting like a young colt. Wouldn't surprise me if he isnt acting up when he reaches 101. He and his wife, June, have been married 64 years and the best part is that they are still sweethearts. June gave a short biography of Franks life. It wasnt just statistics either. Life hasn't been dull for them and from some of the humorous things she told, I dont think he was always the saint I thought he was but hes still a pretty nice fellow and were happy to have him around. They furnished the dessert of brownies with ice cream and Marie Wilde led in singing the Happy Birthday song to him. We didn't meet on Friday the 10th because the art exhibit for the county fair was in our building. They had a good turn out this year the fair and we want to congratulate all you folks who took the time to enter. It doesn't matter whether it was art, needle work, produce, livestock and etc. Whatever it was. you are all winners just for partic- I say: There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, that it ill behooves any of us to find fault with the rest of us." If we look within ourselves and see our own faults, how can we look at another and see theirs?. After weve trodden the long road of life, life is short. Wouldnt it be grand if we spent our time loving and lifting rather than tearing down? We honored Amy Shaw on Wednesday, Aug. 13, which just happened to be her 89th birthday. Her daughter, Barbara Hortin, gave a brief biography of her mother and JoAnn Jones gave a nice tribute as a friend and neighbor to Amy also. She ended with a poem she had written about Amy. We enjoyed her birthday cake (with candjes) and ice cream furnished by her family for dessert. I don't think there was 89 candles cause it didn't send up all that much smoke. Many members of her family was present but since I don't know exactly who was her family and which guests were with others I will just tell you who the guests were since my last report and let you figure it out. Builders Community These awards are given to the great people who we think go way beyond the call of duty in helping us and the communities as a whole. There are so many things they do that go unnoticed, things that we human beings take for granted or give no thought as to who took care of the details that make things run smoothly. This is one way to let them know we are grateful for them and the many volunteers. What would we do without them? These awards were presented by the county commissioners at the Senior Honors program on Saturday, and we are mighty proud of these 957-852- 965-424- jiii e UtahWyoming bonier.
