The students were divided into groups of four and given many supplies to keep the pilgrims alive throughout the winter. Some of the supplies were trenchers (howls), two large quilts, clothing, a vase, ribbon, belt, mirror and a hatchet. . For food, they were given apples, blueberries, and pears. They had to build something to live in all winter. There was a stream a half a mile away from where they were. The groups were given a large white piece of paper to draw and color their ideas. They were given class time to work on the projects. On Oct. 26, the groups presented their projects to the rest of the class. FFA Reporter: Kimberly Robinson Region. NSMS Eighth Graders Compete in a Pilgrim Problem Student Writer: Mary Richards Greenhand and Chapter Member of The Month One group was chosen from each class to compete against other history classes. Other classmates voted for the ones they thought were the best. Some of the ideas were to build a teepee with willows and cover it with animal hides. Start a fire with rock sparks or sticks. Pine needles and dry leaves could be gathered and lit on fire. The trenchers could hold water from the stream. The hatchet could be thrown at animals for meat and hides. At this time not all of the class winners had been decided. However these are the winners so far: In first hour the winners were Sydney Housley. Boh Ivestcr, Carmen Bjtchclor, and Marrisa Wright. Third hour winners were Nash Jones, Erin Wilson, Whitney Gardner, and Mitchawn Klotz. Congratulations to all the winners! The North Summit FFA Officers have made the decision that the North Summit FFA Chapter should have a Greenhand and Chapter Member of The Month. This is to recognize all the hard work each member puts into the organization. Each member does a lot, but those who excel or go the extra mile get voted in as the Members of the month.
