The design team is creating more than just a building of beds and stainless steel fixtures. The healing environment has been emphasized by using more esthetic materials, natural light, water sounds, a fivestorytall water fall, interior and exterior gardens, and by placing beds so they overlook a lake. McKay Dee is a replacement hospital that has been truly designed as a facility for the 215t century and will serve as a model for Intermountain Health Care's managed care system, said Tony Wegener, president of Architectural Design West. The new hospital will nearly double the size of the current facility, at 232,000 square feet. The hospital will have seven levels (six above ground) and increase the size of almost all departments, such as the Heart Institute, ER, ICU Surgery and the Womens and Childrens Center. The facility has been reorganized to promote wellness, provide a higher quality' working environment, and be more patientfocuscd. Patients with like needs will be grouped industry publications HKS is ranked number one in the nation by Modem Health Care magazine in the amount of health facility square footage. It is the fourth largest architectural and engineering firm in the nation, with projects in 44 states. Architectural Design West and HKS comprise a leading partnership in healthcare design, having collaborated on over $180 million worth of such projects in the last ten years. The two firms bring a vast array of technology and ideas to the design of health care facilities. Temple Square Concert Series Presents Concerts in The Park The public is invited to attend the summer performances of the fourth season of Concerts in the Park held at beautiful Brigham Young Historic Park. The park is located on the southeast comer of State Street and 2nd Avenue. All ages are welcome at the nted concerts that last about one hour. Contois begin at 8 p.m. in June and July and at 7:30 p.m., in August 'each Tuesday and Friday evening. The performances are free and do not require tickets.
