The gym was full of life when the buzzer rang signaling the beginning of the Lady Braves Basketball game on Jan. 14. Woolstenhulme . Sub-For-Sant- Page B3 This Christmas, the North Summit Middle School raised money for needy families. The middle school raised $646.50. The eighth grade raised the most money, the seventh grade raised the second most, and the faculty raised the third most. This money helped three families. The student council of the second trimester went shopping on Dec. 22 and got a lot of gifts. They said that is was really fun helping out. Here are some comments from some of the kids that went shopping. Natalie Dcardcn said, "It was really fun; it made me feel good to shop for other people. Also most of the people that went missed second third and fourth, hour. Crystal Fawcett had a delightful time. She said it was very uplifting and fun. She shopped for toys and other things. Dantzcl Geary, the president of the student council said it was fun and that everybody had a good time, and it was worthwhile. Whitney Peck, the vice president of the student council, said "I had a lot of fun and hope to do something like this later in the year." Derek Siddoway, the secretary of the student council, uid that it was really fun and not way just to get out of class. He said he liked helping and hopes to do this kind of thing again. This isn't all of the people that went, but they all said that they had a good time. Collecting money lasted for three weeks, but it was well worth it. It made it so that three families could have a Merry Christmas. It was also fun for the school to do it. Mr. Merchant said that he plans to do it again nest year. Many people contributed to the Sub-FSanta fund, and the school would like to thank everyone that gave some money and would like thank the students that went shopping for the gifts. They got a lot of gifts for kids and parents. It was fun for everyone in the whole school and everybody that contributed to the fund. or Wasps Wound The JV Braves The North Summit J. V. Braves were pumped up and ready to play the Juab Wasps on Jan. 15. North Summit didnt start off the game the way they wanted. Defense for the Braves was bad and they didnt run their offense the way they had practiced. The half time score was 1 for the Wasps. During the second half the Braves tried desperately to catch up to the Wasps, but the Braves couldnt hit the shots they needed to pull ahead. The game ended with a score of 35 to 55 for the Juab Wasps. NOW ONLY $188,0001 WU i n l The Brave Wrestlers traveled to Vernal in the to compete Tournament of Champions. This tournament is ranked in the top three tournaments in the nation. With 34 schools competing and six States represented there was bound to be the best wrestlers around competing. With two full days of wrestling. North Summit came home with two wrestlers placing in the top eight They were Courtney McQueen in eighth place, and Brad Pethtel in seventh place. Jan. 14, the wrestlers beveled to Juab for a dual meet. All of the boys wrestled against this team, but we came home with only two wins. Colt Hamilton won at 160 lbs., and Brad Pethtel won at Heavy Weight. Jan. IS, North Summit held a double dual meet with Rich and Park City. With only one more home match, the wrestlers came out ready to please the home crowd. The JV started things off in a big way and the Vkrsity finished the evening off with a victory over both teams. The team will travel to North Sanpete on Jan. 22 and 23 for a tournament. This will be a good tournament for the Braves, because they will get to wrestle some of the Southern schools that they do not normally see until the state tour- nament The last home match will be on Jan. 27 against Duchesne. This will be a night to honor the Senior wrestlers. There should be some neat matches and a crowd pleasing performance. Come out ant support your wrestlers. The Freshmen Braves Lock up The Bulldogs Student Writer: Bridgette Student Writer: Tiffany Banks TRUE COUNTRY LIVING I of Wrestling Willoughby Wednesday, Jan. 12, the Gunnison Bulldogs arrived in Coalville prepared to play the North Summit Freshmen Braves, but they weren't expecting what they were about to meet. The Braves played good defense, and they had an awesome offense. The Braves Freshmen Boys won the game 54 to 40. As James Shupe, one of the players uid, "We may have won, but we didn't play at the top of our game. Esonas Shine af Rocky Mountain Drill Team Competition Student Writer: Desiree Williams On Jan. 16, the North Summit Drill Team traveled to one of the Salt Lake Community College campus's, and came home with three great wins in the Rocky Mountain Drill Team Competition. They have been doing very well these last few competitions. As they arrived at the college, they were all very nervous. When they all got ready to dance their nervousness started to go away. Their advisors got them very pumped and excited. As they got out on the dance floor, they danced to the best of their abilities. When the awards finally came in, the Esonas were very nervous. They got first place in both Military and Prop, and placed second in Dance in the 2A competition. They were very excited on their wins and were proud of themselves. N.S.
