At the end of the third quarter, the score was 32 to 43 for the Bulldogs. With one quarter left to play, the Braves were ready to play hard and win. Our guys were hustling, and they were beginning to catch up. A foul was made against Bryce Gardner with three and a half minutes remaining, and he successfully sank both shots. With two minutes remaining Kollin Garfield successfully sank a three pointer which put us only 7 points behind. With 13 seconds remaining, the Bulldogs were ahead by 9 points. With only 3 seconds remaining, a foul was called against Vance Robinson. He made one out of his two shots. The final score was 36-4- 4 in favor of the Bulldogs. The JV Braves basketball team played Gunnison High school on Jan. 13. To start the game off, Gunnison received the tip. The Braves played hard and steady, and they had good plays and organized ball handling. The first quarter ended with a lie of 11 to 11. The Braves continued to put up defense but it wasnt quite enough. The sec ond quarter ended with a score of 22 to 24 in favor of the Bulldogs. The score was 23 to 24. The Braves came out fired-u- p for the second half after some encouraging words from Coach Neild. The game went back and forth as North Summit and Juab battled it out on the court Each team scored the same amount of points in the third quarter. The score was 33 to 32 for the Braves going into the fourth The North Summit Boys Varsity Basketball Team traveled to Juab on the 13th to play the Wasps. The Braves came out fighting in the first quarter out scoring the Wasps 12 to 11. In the second quarter, the Braves and the Wasps both fought hard. At the end of the half Yancc Fawcett scored a three point- - JV Struggles Against Lady Wasps quarter. The game started to get real exciting as time was winding down. The two teams played well throughout the game, but ultimately Juab came out on top for the win. The final score was 48 to 44. Student Writer: Millie Judd The third home game for the North Summit Lady Braves was held on Thursday, Jan. 14, and the JV Lady Braves ended up losing a close one to Juab's JV team by 8 points. The first quarter was not too bad, as the Lady Braves defense kept Juab to 6 points. Unfortunately, the Lady Braves were only able to put the ball in the basket twice, giving the Wasps a 2 point lead early. The second quarter was also pretty dose. Both North Summit and Juab scored 8 points. The officials blew their whistles quite a bit, and North Summit ended up on the short end of the stick with the teams fouls totaling 9 against the Lady Braves, and Juab with only 3. By the time the first half was over, the Wasps were on top 14 to 12. Halftime ended as quickly as it approached. The booster dub sponsored a paper airplane flying contest, and then the second half began. Third quarter scores favored the Wisps, and the Lady Braves struggled to make their offense work. This was when Juab started to pull ahead. The Lady Braves defense straggled to contain Juab, and the Wasps took control. The Wasps scored 11 points in the third quarter while the Lady Braves only scored 4. Fourth quarter came, and Juab was in the lead by 9 points. The fourth quarter wu nigi.!y in favor of the Lady Wasps, as they scored 17 points in this quarter alone. North Summits efforts fell short, and Juab walked away with a 8 point win. Final score was 42 to 34. Subscribe lo Student Writer: Megan Judd The North Summit Freshmen Braves traveled to Juab to take on the Wasp on Jan. 14. Gregory Piervy, Barry Williams, Nathan Brooks, Craig Louder, and Kody Potter started off the game for the Braves. Craig Louder got the tip-of-f, which started the first quarter off well. North Summit had both good offense and defense, but their offense just wasn't quite enough to pull ahead by half-timWhen the Freshman Braves came out of the lockenoom they were determined to come out on top. They played tough and had some great plays, but things just didnt work out their way. Craig Louder was the high scorer with 11 points, and Nathan Brooks followed close behind with 8 points. The final score was 31-6e. 0. Game Winning Shots Spoil NS Victory Excitement was in the air as the North Summit Lady Braves boarded the bus for their long journey to Gunnison. The JV team got off to a great start with tough defense giving them steals and leading to lots of fast break points. The Lady Braves played with agdown gressiveness shutting Gunnison's offense. The Lady Braves totally dominated the second quarter, outscoring Gunnison 15-ending at half time with a score of 27 to 13 for the Lady Braves. The Lady Braves fought hard and came out on top ending the third quarter with a score of 37 to 22, but the Lady Braves just couldnt keep their lead. Gunnison dominated the fourth quarter with shots, fastbreaks, and steals. The Lady Braves couldn't keep up on their defense or make their offense come alive. The score was tied at 45, and Gunnison had possession. Gunnison shot and NS fouled. They made their foul shots ending with a disappointing Gunnison vic' 3, 45-4- On Jan. 14, the Freshmen Lady Braves were pumped and ready to take on the Lady Wasps on the Braves home court. To start the game off the Juab Wasps got the tip and the first points putting the Wasps ahead early on. Great defense on both sides kept the score low for the fust half. On a recent Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Braves of North Summit High School loaded a bright yellow bus and headed to Gunnison Valley, the home of the Gunnison Bulldogs. At approximately seven o'clock the teams took the floor. The tension in the room had already begun to rise. The first quarter came and went rapidly, with the score showing the Braves trailing by one, 5 to 4. Time continued to tick away, as the second quarter too slipped past. The tally of points was higher this time around, and the teams left the court with the scoreboard reading 18 to 16, in favor of the Lady Bulldogs. Coach Lori Williams and her assistant, Melanie McQueen, must have had some incredibly encourag u Grantsville Defeats Varsity Braves The Braves tried their hardest to keep up with the Bulldogs, but the Bulldogs lead increased. By the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs were ahead by 14. During the fourth quarter, the Braves tried hard to keep up with the Bulldogs but the Bulldogs were, too far ahead. The game ended with the Bulldogs on top by 21. The final score wu 67 to 46. The Braves gave it a good try, and it wu a hard loss. Good job, Braves! By Student Writer: Rebecca Richins 7. The Freshmen Lady Wasps Sting the Lady Braves Student Writer: Malarie Richins ing words for their players that: night, because when the Lady Braves returned to the gym, they were unstoppable. They outscored their opponents by nine in the third quarter, making the scon 30 to 23 for North Summit. The final quarter continued to be profitable for the Braves. They held on to their lead, and the dock ran out. North Summit conquered. Gunnison tost by five, with a score ; . of 35 to 40. Coming back on the court after halftiime, the Lady Braves were high in spirit and ready to play. The Lady Braves worked hard and put forth great efforts with high scores from Sherry Gardner and Amanda Burton. All of the team members worked really hard, but they couldn't pull off a win with the score ending 36 to 21 for the Lady Wasps. The Varsity North Summit Braves met the Grantsville Bulldogs on our court Wednesday, Jan. 13. Both teams started the game with excitement and were ready to play hard. The first quarter wu very dose and both teams were playing with intensity. By the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs were ahead by only eight. During the second quarter, both teams played their hardest to end up on top when time ran out. Both teams were playing great and the half ended with the Bulldogs on top by a score of 29 to 23.
