Show 4tfh off July Enjoyed Around Area Subscribe To The Summit County Bee by Pamela Robbins Some people travel for the 4th ' of July holiday while many have made it a top priority to stay home. Community members grow closer as they participate in fun events such as parades, barbecues and rodeos. Oakley has guests from as far away as Japan as they host their two day rodeo. There are also fun children's activities at their own rodeo. This year, those attending the rodeo were able to witness Oakley resident, Leo Frazier, receive a special awaid for time spent in the service. It was a touching and tender moment for family members and friends. The town also enjoyed a western musical program held after the annual parade with Grand Marshal Lynn Sorenson. A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings was served to a huge group of hungry folks. A dance was held on Friday and Saturday after the rodeo, along with a beautiful, exciting fireworks display. On the north side of the county, Henefer held it's annual 4th of July celebration - (minus the usual booths that were being saved for the wagon train event). The flying overhead were thrilling as always - the flag presentation - skydiver routine - watermelon bust - 10 cent ice cream cones. A special antique vehicle display was set up to be enjoyed. This year, a new addition included a fun children's parade, with' Grand Marshal being President Myron Richins. The fireworks display along with a delicious breakfast and pork spare ' rib dinner were special hits with town folks and out-of-to- wn . .
