It's proximity to Interstate 80 makes it very convenient, yet I am still able to live in a small community and enjoy the benefits of knowing my neighbors and our merchants. Because of the low crime rate, I Consider Coalville to be 'a good place to raise my two children, i Imagine my surprise when I discovered over last weekend that the sign my husband and I had just hung on our building on Main St. had been stolen and the hardware had been destroyed. That cost us a hundred bucks. After the time and money we have spent to improve our building at 38 and 40 South vandalized. Later I learned that we were not the only victims of the vandals. At least one other merchant on Main St. had a sign destroyed that weekend, and other vandalism occurred at the park. The vandalism continued to happen during the week. Another merchant's building was smeared with butter and papered with toilet tissue. Vandalism can be very costly to the victim. When a publicly owned facility is vandalized, it is the taxpayers of the city who pay for the damage. Our city council needs to address this issue, before any more damage is done. Griffith, robotic achievement is a singular milestone, either.because there are over industrial robots at work worldwide. The Japanese were the first to introduce robot assembly of automobiles in 1960 and manufacturers, worldwide, are working towards producing automobiles, within the next span, that will do all the driving fa you. The complete spectrum of robotic usages is almost incomprehensible. Their sizes range from gigantic nine-to- n creations the size of dinosaurs size, whose us(Jurassic Park, The Lost Wald, etc.) to a minute lady-bu- g ages include not only space exploration and building automobiles and other equipment, but locating dangerous, forgotten land mines, extremely miniature cameras for clandestine surveillance, replacements of body parts (hip sockets, etc.). They serve as automated tellers (ATM's), run subway trains, mining equipment, and are used to clean up waste from nuclear accidents once among many, many other uses. Unlike humans who have to in a while with a or prime rib - and usually sit down to do it - the robot is tireless, with an endless fuel supply. He merely keeps his posterior pointed toward the sun and keeps on working. But don't worry about these silicon and steel creatures taking over from us humans just yet. While they can duplicate some human tasks fairly well and are y on cereven much more precise with incredibly consistent tain programmed assignments, they simply fall far short on the "neuron-suppl- Parents With Problem Children Parent Support Group with the help of a licensed social worker meets the first Tuesday of each month in the Summit County Services building, in Kamas at 7 p.m. ' Summit County Crime' Hotline Citizens of Summit County, this is our home, get involved! In the meantime, even though scientists are already planning a manned landing on Mars for the year 2013, we will continue to probe and study interplanetary space by preceding any .manned flights out there with robot explorers. The name "robot" came from the pen of a Czech writer (couldn't resist the pun. He was actually a playwright from Czechoslovakia) who introduced that term as early as 1920. "Robot" comes from the Czech word "robots" and means "faced lamaterial, bor." This scientific Mars project is firmly and is an astounding scientific marvel delivered with breathtaking accuracy to a target 120 million miles away! "(The landing site) is the best place we could have landed," stated project scientist Mathew Golomby. Also noted was the fact that the Pathfinder landing craft barely missed colliding with an enormous boulder on the Martian landscape that could have ended the mission with an earthly gift to the Martians of $276 million dollars worth of American litter. Looking back 20 years to when the Viking craft landed on the Martian surface brought memories of four years ago's failed attempt when NASA's last Mars shot "simply disappeared" just before arriving there.
