There was a special welcome for Naoma Wilson. We are so pleased to have her back with us. Louella Walker's funeral was reported. Her funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Woodland Ward. Our sincere sympathy goes to the our cooks, they would certainly rate time. Remember Halloween will be here soon, so start thinking about 100. Our dear friends, Sam and Donna Burgess, have left for their winter sojourn in Arizona. We will really miss them until spring. It has to be advertised for three weeks and then they will bring an appraiser and, hopefully, will be able to get the project started. We have waited a tong family. For dinner, we were served meatloaf, fried potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, sliced tomatoes, hot rolls and jam, and chocolate cake for dessert If we were given report cards for it Dinner consisted of beef pot pic with Bisquick topping with a side order of liver and onions, Jelto fruit salad, and cookies tor desert. Hamburgers Aoki Sumo Moodies The Utah Department of Human Services will open its winter utility program which is a federal funded assistance program to help tow income people pay their heating bills. HEAT, Home Energy Assistance Target Program, is designed to assist eligible households to meet the rising cost of home heating. The program was originally authorized by Congress in July, 1981. The HEAT program opens this year on Monday, Nov. 2 for the elderly and handicapped. Seniors and handicapped may call their local Human Services office for the nearest HEAT officer. Applications are available at most Senior Citizen's Centers, utility companies, and community service agencies. Home visits are available for those who are housebound. The general public can apply starting Friday, Nov. 16. Please call me of the HEAT offices for an appointment. New Number For Utah Veterans Toll-Fr- The 1993 program budget is $9.9 million, a 10 percent cut from last year. This reduction will cause a small reduction in the number of households the program can pay this year, 37,000 compared to 38,444. The average payment will also be slightly reduced from $217 to $212 this year. HEAT does not pay the entire fuel cost for the winter. An eligible household can apply for only one HEAT payment per winter season. The amount paid depends on location, type of fuel used, and household size and income. Any cost above the HEAT payment must be paid by the applicant Applicants will need to have identification, Social Cecurity cards for everyone 18 years or older in his household, a copy of their most recent utility bills, proof of income during the past calendar month for all household members, and proof of medical bills paid during the past month. For information, call ee A change in telephone service numhas resulted in a new toll-frber in Utah for veterans and their dependents seeking information about their benefits. The new number, effective Oct. 26, is ee e number "Using this makes it easier for veterans to get answers to the questions they have. It is faster than communicating by mail and provides a more personal service, said Douglas Wadsworth, Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs Utah Regional Office. Currently, the regional office handles an average of 7,200 information calls per month. Counselors will be available at die above number between 7:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mr. Wadsworth said that besides providing better service, the new number will save the government a considerable amount of money when compared to the previous toll-fre- telephone line charges.
