It is in those compositions his ability to recreate the elusive light of a foggy dawn in Hyde Park or a misty dusk along the sea coast is stunningly evident. . Murray's emphasis on skyscrapes transposes well to the West in the composition "Colorado River Camp hue of where the sunset is picked up in the red rock of the southern desert. His "Rainstorm in the . red-oran- Kamas Valley," however, Summit and County Valley" seem to be some- what Anglosized versions of otherwise familiar land- scapes. The yellowed tones are a phenomenon I have never seen in the Kamas Valley but are more reminiscent of England or the East Coast. Still it is exciting to see our own county immortalized Henefer with such skill. Barns" is a classic rendering of the type of the intrinsically American outbuilding which will no longer be standing in SO years. Hopefully, long after all the Kodachrome has faded, Murray's paintings will still stand as a record of the American West. The Meyer Gallery is located at 305 Main Street, Park City and is open from 1 1 a.m.-- 6 p.m., Tuesday-SundaAdmission is free. y. of the rainstorm Bud, eroo hi UuL mtae M What is it about the old masters which still intrigues us?
