Low interest loans and grants are made to applicants who are 62 years of age or older and who are of their dwelling. Eligibility for a loan or grant is based on the person's repayment ability. Very low income repair loans come under the Section 504, and the loan limit is S7.500. Maximum term for the repayment is 20 vears. The interest rate is one owner-occupan- ts , door-to-do- or dontfitf'v. percent. Home Repair Grants for the Elderly are available through the FMHA as above stated and the amount of the grants must not exceed S5.000. Grants are made for that portion of the Section 504 Loan that cannot be repaid by the applicant. A.D. Dick and Maye Prescott of Kamas recently used a 504 Loan to improve their home. FMHA loan funds were used to assist the family to build a new roof, replacing the old roof which was leaking. Mr. Prescott states that the new roof has worked very well and relieved many of his worries about the wet weather.
