Nine school districts participated in the competition. They were: North Summit. South Summit, South Rich. Park City, Tintic, North Rich, Dugway, Duchesne and Manila. Morning activities included a The week of April 20th has been scheduled as "Festival of the Arts for the Young. A number of activities have been scheduled in the schools at North Summit as part of the "Festival." There will be a Choral Assembly in the High School Auditorium on april 20 at 10:30 a.m. piano recital is scheduled for April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The Festival of the Arts Program will be presented April 24 in the High School. This program will feature an Art Display and a band concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. A A "festival" of activities will be held the afternoon of Friday, April 24th. The activities will include piano, drama, painting, pottery and other forms of creative expression. Connie Fawcett, Danece Skinner, Debby Alber and Larae Downerd received a Superior Minus Rating. They were accompanied by Ruby Stokes. Russell Bird received a Superior Minus Rating on a piano solo. Karen Hobson received a Superior Rating on a flute solo. Jennifer Wilde received a Superior Minus Rating on a saxaphone solo. Lisa Carter and Danece Skinner received a Good Plus Rating on a vocal duet. Stephen Anderton and Jeff Page received a Good Plus Rating on a drum duet. Kraig Dearden and Ryan band compctiton in the High School Auditorium with Dugway, North Duchesne, Tintic, South Summit and North Summit competing. David Judd, 10 and Mark Marsh, 20, have both been named to the First Team. are selected by the The coaches of the basketball teams in the region. Selections are made on a basis of scholastic excellence as well as value as an .athlete, individually as well as to the team. Nominations are made by the individual coaches, and the young men are then selected and placed by collective coach evaluation. This is a real honor for these students. From South Summit, the " group of girls chorus took three superior ratings in the musical solo ensemble competition. These high ratings will enable the group to attend the State Solo and Ensemble Festival to be help at BYU on April 11. Following are the girls in the group: LaNae Atkinson, Ann Blazzard. iKarma Frazier. Debbie McCandlcss, Lynette Page, Tamara Page, Ruth Park, Penny Prescott, Janet Robinson, Janene Tatton, Eve Watson and Mary Watson. The group appeared March 31 at the "High School Choir Festival" held at Weber State College. Their teacher is Paulette Silves "Tap-cstry- ter. Don Jepson. trumpet solo, received an excellent rating. The Jazz Band received an excellent rating. Members in- t. clude: Paul Prescott.
