In its haste to bum off last night's frost it has turned a clear blue dawn into a dense foggy morning. It is not the murky, grey kind of fog found on the coast. It is instead a special e brand which lies like a white blanket close to the ground, nestles in the valleys and creates ice crystals on your windshield on the way to work. Not too far away in the fields we can hear the calls of a group of sandhill cranes evidently socked in. It is tempting to wander off into the white cloud to find the source of that mystifying chortle but the likelihood 7 . high-altitud- Almanac too. perfect. By me or two this afternoon, we will be dusting off last summer's deck chairs and basking in the sun with all thoughts of chopping wood and staking the woodstove temporarily that we might instead come upon me of our neighbor's bulls is enough to deter us.
