Ouchesme IHIngjDn Sterling Scholars 4 Duchesne High wishes to announce the Sterling Scholar candidates for the 1998-9- 9 school year. Tara Hamilton, daughter of Bryce Hamilton and Susan Hamilton, will represent Duchesne High in English. She is a recipient of a National English Merit Award, along with various other writing awards. Tara has been on the Duchesne High Drill team for four years, and is the publicity Youth for the Drug-Fre-e of club, and is activities the German Club. Sara Faust, daughter of Daniel and Christie Faust will represent Duchesne High in Mathematics. She has participated in the Academic Decathlon her junior and senior year. She has competed in State Clarinet Solo twice. She took 2nd place in the District Science Power test. She has been involved with many different school activities, such as: speech, AD, school plays, English Fair, music competition, marching band, and District Science Fair. John Foster, son of John and Gayle Foster, will represent Duchesne High in Social Science. He has participated in the State History Fair and took 1st place in region. He has participated in student government as Senior Class president student body Has worked as yearofficer, book assistant 8 and yearbook He has participated in editor the Close-U- p Program in Washington, D.C. and Boys State. Shanna Green is the daughter of Kevin and Charlene Green, and will represent Duchesne High in Science. She has been involved in basketball and track for three years. She has . been committed to science throughout high school and has achieved high rewards for her work. Nadine Hahn, daughter of Alfred and Margit Jole, will represent Duchesne High in Foreign Language. She has been in German for two years, and has won numerous awards for her proficiency in the language. She has been in Drill Team for two years. She has been involved in District Fair and received 1st place all three years. Nathan Bench, son of Edmund and Patti Bench, will represent Duchesne High in Computer Technology. He has been Eagle News president and student body secretary. He has been involved in Eagle News for three years and has experience in making movies for schools. Cody has been active in FHA. and has served as chapter president He has received medals at state competition for his illustrated topic. The Effects of Pregnancy on Teenaged Boys. He has participated as a coordinator for the Sub for Santa program working as a liaison with the Duchesne Lion's Club. Cody was awarded the 1997 Kikkoman Youth for Understanding scholarship and spent six weeks living with a Japanese family in Ybkahama. He is active in sports, and was named football team and to the 2nd team on the Salt Lake Tribunes AILState football team. Andrew Spencer, son of Richard and Marie Spencer, will represent Duchesne High in Visual Arts. Andrew has won various art awards in the district arts fair for the last five years, placing 1st each year in drawing, also winning awards at county and state fair levels. He has been the yearbook photographer for the past three years, and has been a student body officer for the school years. Andrew has and been on two second place state cross country teams, and one state winning team. Brandon Aycock is the son of Stephen and Shirley Aycock, and will represent Duchesne High in Business e and Marketing. Brandon is a member of the Region business championship team. He has attended Utah Business Week and was the recipient of the Outstanding Accounting Student of the Year award. Brandon is currently serving as Senior Class and seminary president He enjoys weight-liftinfishing, mountain biking, just about all sports, and playing the guitar. Karietta Brady, daughter of Leo and Lareta Brady, will represent Duchesne High in Music. Karietta has been on the drill team for four years and acted as drill mistress for the past two years. She has received various titles such as State Drama champion. State Farm Bureau Talent winner and most outstanding pianist Karietta is currently a member of the German Club, Drug Free Youth and serves as Social of the student Megan Farnsworth, daughter of Ken and Mona Farnsworth, will represent Duchesne High in General dent Scholarship. Suzanne has been a State Drama champion for two years. She has been on the Drill Team for four years and has been mistress for three years. She has also been on All State Drill Team.
