She is the Foreign Language Club President, a member of the Student Council, and has been a H leader for five years. Jacob Hackford. son of David and Laura Hackford, has shown innovative progress in the difficult world of multimedia, earning the tide of the Union's 1999 Computer Technology Sterling Scholar. He has held a high honor roD grade point average throughout high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. Thomas Winterton, the son of Ronald and Lori Jo Winterton, was named Unions Sterling Scholar for Trade and Technical Education. This 4-- category requires unmatched achievement in construction and other building and repair technologies. Thomas placed 2nd at the Southern Utah University Construction Competition and the Uintah Basin Applied Technology Center has awarded him competency certificates in the construction program, Thomas also takes pride in the fact that he has earned the rank of Eagle in Scouting. Jeffrey Geddes, son of David and Leslie Geddes, met these requisites and was presented the title. Jeffrey is a member of National Honor Society. On many occasions he helped his team to victory as a letterman of football and because of his scientific expertise, he was named the Chemistry Olympiad at BYU. Stacy Mecham has shown persistence in the study of foreign languages and has proven her increasing interest in them. Because of this she was selected by judges as Uniorfs N 200 Century 21 Country Realty competitions. She received Superior ratings at State Music competitions in 1997 and 1998. Annica is also the student body president at Tabiona and assistant drill mistress on the Tabiona Drill Team. In addition to her busy schedule, she attended Girts State and is a Honor Bod student She plans on attending college and nursing school. Now he is attending classes at the USU Uintah Basin branch campus to earn a second major in Business Information Systems, living expenses are cheaper here, and I like the major I'm getting into. The last of the Union's 14 Sterling Scholars we will name is Courtney Evans. She is the daughter of Dr. Keith and Sharon Evans and was named the English Sterling Scholar. She showed achievement in creative writing and journalism skills. Cortney attended a National Journalism Conference in Washington DC. where she was able to interview Senator Orrin Hatch and Representative Chris Cannon. She has had several of her poems published in two different anthologies and last summer was named second attendant to Miss Teen of Utah.
