Whiting With a total of $50,000 worth of granta in hand, lha Pinon Forest Special Service District is on their way to discovering whether they can locate a water source that will be cost effective to turn it into a culinary water supply for homeowners living in rural west needed, aaid LeBlanc. The feasibility study will take between four to six months to complete. "We will look at where the density of the population is and what it will take to bring water to the area as it grows outward," LeBlanc com- Duchesne County. Last September the water district was awarded a $25,000 grant, from the Community Impact Board with the condition that they come up with $25,000 in matching funds. The district was recently the beneentificiary of some ties from Duchesne County when each agreed to turn over a portion of their Community Development Block Grant awards eo Pinon Ridge, who didn't win the CDBG money when it was allocated recently, would have the additional funds they needed lor their water study. The contract for the feasibility study was awarded to Sunrise Engineering out of Fillmore. They will let us know whether or not water is available and whether we can get it to the residents at a reasonable cost," said Fred Mauerman, district chairman. Damn LeBlanc, funding administrator tat Sunrise, said work has already begun to identify a possible water source. According to LeBlanc, the three main water options being considered at this point include: the Deep Water wells, linking up with the Hanna Water Improvement kind-hearte- mented. Thoee who live in the area fulltime and those with recreational cabins and property in the countys remote west side, obtain their culinary water from wells, or purchase it fium Duchesne City and haul it to their homes in large tanks. Last fell, about 52 property owners living within the districtsbound-arie- s withdrew their property from d inclusion because they have depend-abl- e culinary water supplies and did not want to be taxed for something they didn't need. The district levies a tax at the rate of about $20 for a primary residence, and $40 for a secondary home. Funds budgeted for these programs all total another $229,323. Both are to meet the needs of the homeleea in the Baaiii. Another Emergency Food Network contract provides 51222 for food and the Utah State Office of Education provides another $8,512 for food. In the past year, the RLF program has funded $ 1 10,000 to small businesses who will provide jobs to families in our communities. The RLF g is a program.
