His farewell is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, 9 a.m., in Duchesne First Ward. He enters the MTC on Sept. 30. ElderTimothy Aaron Griswold, son of Wayne and Gayla Griswold, has been called to the Taiwan Taipei Mission. His farewell will be September 13, 2:30 p.m., in Roosevelt 4th Ward. Timothy enters the MTC on Sept. 16. 1998- - Pane? Pennies by the inch campaign is kicked off Utahs First Lady, Jacalyn S. Leavitt, will address die Intermountain Area during the "Pennies by the Inch" Kick Off today (Tuesday, Sept. 8) at 10 a.m., in the Governor's Mansion. Mrs. Leavitt will ask for support of all community members to donate to the Pennies by the Inch campaign to assist needy children. Committee members of "Pennies by the Inch" and patients from Primary Children's Medical Center who have received financial assistance for their medical care will also be present. Mrs. Leavitt will recognize the great tradition of Pennies by the Inch and the many contributions it has made to children in the Intermountain Area. Pennies by the Inch" continues a tradition of providing medical care to children at Primary Childrens Medical Center regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay. One hundred percent of all donations are used to provide medical assistance for those unable to pay. For over seven decades, volunteers have collected pennies, dimes, and dollars for Primary Childrens Hospital. Pennies by the Inch" first began as the Penny Parade," conducted by the Primary organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. When the LDS Church gave its childrens hospital to the community in 1975, the annual campaign was renamed Pennies by the Inch." Last year over (6 million was expended for charitable care of needy children. These funds helped children from the hospital's five-staservice area and beyond. Of this S6 million, more than $1 million was generated by the "Pennies by the Inch campaign. Primary Childrens Medical Center is a 232-be- d facility located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is the pediatric referral center for the entire Intermountain area. Children from Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, and other states are treated at the center. "Pennies by the Inch" campaign will be held Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. New temples, Seventy leadership announced 76-ye- ar Plans for two more temples and a change in the leadership ofthe Presidency of the Seventy have been announced by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. The new temples are planned for Detroit, Mich., and Spokane, Wash. Called to serve in the seven-ma- n Presidency of the Seventy were Elders D. Todd Christofierson, Marlin K. Jensen and David E. Sorensen, all of whom have been serving in the First Quorum of the Seventy. Members of the Quorums of the Seventy serve as administrators, overseeing the Church's operations in different parts of the world. Some of them also serve in administrative positions in various Church departments. Hie three new members of the Presidency fill vacancies left by Elders Monte J. Brough, W. Eugene Hansen and Jack H. Goaslind. Elder Brough was released so he can serve as president of the North America Southeast Area, with headquarters in Atlanta, GA. Elders Hansen and Goaslind will be given emeritus general authority status y door-to-do- te Benny J. Romero, son of Marilyn and David Moon; of Roosevelt, and Raymond Romero of Phoenix. Arizona recently graduated from the Navy Training Center in Great Lukes. Ilinois. Because of his degree Benny went in as a senior recruit. He is now in Pensacola, Florida for advanced individual training where he will learn how to perform safety inspections on aircraft and do general maintenance. He has enlisted in the Navy for 4 years. Romero is a 1995 Union High graduate. at the upcoming October General Conference of the Church. Other members of the Presidency are Elders L. Aldin Porter, Joe J. Christensen, Harold G. Hillam and Earl C. Tingey. The new temples to be built in Michigan and Washington state are the 16th and 17th announced since the April 1998 General Conference, during which President Gordon B. Hinckley, world leader of the Church, said some 30 smaller temples" would be constructed by the turn of the century. The temple in Detroit will serve some 13,300 members of the Church in four stakes and one district, plus the Michigan Detroit Mission. Austin will have his farewell Sept. 13, 10:30 a.m. at the Neola 2nd Ward Chapel. Kristopher Jon Wentworth has been called to serve in the Australia Sydney South Mission. He will speak on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 9:30 a.m. in Roosevelt Tenth Ward. Elder Wentworth graduated cum laude with an Associate of Arts degree from Dixie College in June.
