Ashbys celebrate golden wedding anniversary Clarin and Margene Ashby will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Sept. 16. Their family and children will host an open house in their honor this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 6 - 8 p.m. at 340 West Lagoon in Roosevelt. Friends and family are invited to attend. No gifts please. They were married Sept. 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they purchased the Emery County Progress in 1956. They moved to Roosevelt in 1965 and bought the Uintah Basin Standard from ClifT Memmott. Clarin and Margene worked for America Youth in Concert, a performing youth group which toured Europe and was stationed in Trenton, New Jersey from 1978 to 1983. Clarin also worked for Deseret Generation and Transmission in Sandy. Clarin and Margene have served two missions for the LDS Church, one in the Australia Queensland the Aus- They returned to Roosevelt in the late 1980s. Clarin is currently serving as the Patriarch in the Roosevelt Utah West State. The Ashbys have five children, 24 grandchildren and six Utah State annual girl. Sept. Webb Johnson, girl.
