Show UINTAH BASIN STANDARD. July 11. DWR 1995- - Page IS Notes Spring runoff is really putting a cramp in DWR hatchery stocking schedules around the state. Hatchery raceways and rearing ponds are bulging with catchablesized trout "This is a real crunch time for the hatcheries because the fish are ready and to keep them will cost a lot of extra money for feed," says Ton Pettengill, Sport Fish Coordinator for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resource. With more fish coming through the system, hatcheries are running out of room. If spring runoff doesnt subside soon, fish scheduled for stocking in rivers and streams will be stocked elsewhere. "We have put a great deal of time and money into raising these fish," Pettengill says. "We wont put the fish in a rushing stream only to have them pushed out and downstream. If needed, we will stock them elsewhere." The bigger fish payoff for anglers whan they do hit the water. r- CAPPED WONDER Swimming lesson instructor Guy Coleman works with young swimmers while wearing his ball cap. "Pitcher is going to throw a' curve ball on the next pitch!", and my dad was right as it was a curve for two strikes and an 2 count. "He should waste one here and make him go for an outside pitch." The batter hit the next pitch into the outfield for a base hit The pitcher made the pitch too good and my dad was sad that he didnt listen.
