| Show PEACE TO BE PERMANENT ARMIES TO BE DISBANDED the principal clauses in the treaty signed by central american ra publics at on of peacemaker uncle sam san salvador the conference on board the united states brutger ma was conflicted under the honorary presidency of william L merry american minister at nicaragua costa mca and san salvador the american minister to guatemala and hon duras leslie combs and the mexican minister to guatemala gamboa after the exchange of credentials there was a long deliberation on the object of the conference and the terms of the treaty and then the treaty was signed the principal clauses are as follows first salvador and honduras return to a state of peace with guate mala forgetting past differences therefore they will concentrate their armies and disarm them within eight days from the date of the signing of the treaty leaving only the troops previously stationed in the various gar rion towns and the flying columns required for police service second the contracting govern ments will reciprocate to deliver up the prisoners of war and take u gratuitously of the wounded in their respective territories who are unable to return tc their homes all political prisoners will also be immediately re leased and each delegation will rec ammend to its government the bissu ance of a decree of amnesty so soon as possible third the high contracting parties agree to concentrate all the political now in their terri acnes or who may hereafter entel t air respective territories and like ise to watch their conduct so as to them from abusing the right 0 asylum in conspiracy against the order and tranquillity of the country from which they emigrated fourth within two months of the aate of the signing of the treaty the contracting parties will sign a general treaty of peace friendship and corn merce etc the capital of costa rica Is designated as the place for the full authorized representatives of the three cs to meet any further po sible differences are to be submit led to tue arbitration of the lents of the united states and ol 01 mexico |
