Forest Service Christmas trees The first opportunity to get a Christmas tree on the Ashley National Forest will bo Monday, Nov. 13, when permits become available on the Flaming Gorge Ranger District The district has a limit of 1000 permits which , will be sold for $5 each on e basis. There will be 75 sold through the Dutch John office, at Manila. The remaining permits will be sold through' Daggett first-oome- first-serv- ed County Search and Rescue at the Flaming Gorge Lodge; Steinaker Chevron in Manila, and at the Green River and Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce offices. Permits are limited to one per family. However, people may get permits fin- two other families if they supply aname and address at the time of purchase. A signed letter is necessary when a tree is transported for another parson. Permits are good for the while forest, but a limit of one tree can be cut on the Flaming Gorge District. Dowd Mountain and Sheep Creek Canyon are dosed to cutting, and trees are not to be cut within 14 mile of a developed site and must be cut 800 feet from a stream or road. Permits to cut trees over eight feet may be purchased for an additional $1 per foot. - The Vernal, Roosevelt and Duchesne ranger districts will begin selling' permits Monday, Nov. 20. Permits will be sold at the Ashley National Forest Supervisor's office in Vernal and at district ranger offices. The Roosevelt and Duchesne offices will be open Saturdays, beginning November 25, from 8 an. to 1 p.m., for the purchase of permits. |
