Giving farther details on the rightleft concept, he showed the various characteristics that typically fit. Left brain dominance is basically logical, while right brain is mainly emotional. Left brain learners prefer a realistic, common sense approach, while right brain learners respond best to the idealistic, the sensory and visual. . Elaborating on the four quadrants that learning preference and brain dominance fit, Steck explained that front left dominance includes the analytic, theoretical, abstract thinkers, while frontrijit dominance is mainly imaginative artistic, and synthesizing. The back left learners are typically organized, procedural, and conservative; back right dominant individuals - am basically metaphoric, experiential, communicative, and humanist The key to using this inform tion, according to Stack, is seeking to develop a Vholbrained", fifes- -, tive, natural approach to life, trying to use our best natural ca- tional teaching technique is being scrutinized because of its lack of ability to reach some individuals. Keith Stock of the Utah State Office of Education is an expert on the subject of right and left brain characteristics, and was at the East Elementary PTA meeting Thursday, March 17, (thanks to Education and Family Life Commissioner Rona Wood) to enlighten the audience with updated information cm the subject. Prefacing his remarks with Einstein's statement about his own untapped intellect ( as one grain of sand on the beach of all the knowledge to be had), Steck emphasized Ms belief that everyone can learn about anything-t- he differenceis in where our preferences lie, what we are motivated to learn. He then explained, with the aid of visuals, the learning capacity of the brain as divided into four areas, or quadrants, where specific tendencies dominate.
