You may know someone who is or has been the victim of such abuse, or you might possibly be the abused or the abuser yourself and you have no idea where to turn or what to do, to stop the hurting that you endure or that you put someone, youre supposed to love and who trusts you, through. There are many reasons given as to why such abuse happens and just as many reasons given, why it may not or should not be reported. There may be cultural pressures and differences, or fears of retribution, persecution and stigmatism, as well as conflicting emotional issues, especially when family members may be involved. But the bottom line is, that it is wrong and if you or someone you know is suffering from this kind of abuse or twisted perversion of "love, you dont have to put up with it, no matter what rationalzations, excuses or explanations are made, or who makes them. There is hope and there are alternatives to continuing to suffer this "hidden crime. Last but not least, we would like to present the issue on law enforcement of Myton City. As sane of the Myton citizens are award, Mayor Cooper suggested that Myton City hire its own peace officer. There are a number of why we doit think this would be feasible: (a) We would have to hire a certified officer at approximately $20,000 a year, (b) furnish insurance for the officer, (c) famish equipment, car, etc.; (d) fuel and maintenance oi this equipment; (e) a way to dispatch the officer; (f) the liability, which is extremely important; and (g) to sum it up, we just dont have the money. Besides, Duchesne County Sheriff Department doee a fantastic job. We would like to express our appreciation and thanks to them, and a special thanks to Wendell Robots. Thank you for being there when we needed you. Viewpoints, comments and support will be appreciated. There are professionals in law enforcement and social services or counseling services who are trained and experienced in dealing with sensitive issues such as this, and they are there to help you. You dont have to "put up with sexual or otherwise, no matter what abuse, some folks or even family members may say, or whatever kind of "guilt they may try to place on your shoulders. If you are the abuser, then for your sake, for die sake of those who love mid trust you, get some professional help, now! If you are the (me suffering from abuse, then seek out any one ofthe sources mentioned to get the help that you need to help stop the hurting, and do it now, PLEASE!!!! ns 50 722-348- Aa council members anddtizens of Myton City, era would like to bring a few issues to the attention of all Myton citizens. 1. Crime Watch is getting back into flail swing, and we need mote ; volunteers to make crime watch mare effective. Far more information contact Duane Davis, or call Also we the city office at re going to do some carpenter work on the old city building so crime watch will have an office to work out of. Volunteers on this prqject would also be appreciated. 2. We would like to express our appreciation and thanks to Francis Fowler for a job well done. We would like to make the people of Myton aware that at the city councilmeeting; when it was decided to fire Mr. Fowler, that Dorthia Ivie and Thelma Dye abstained, and that Glen Thompson was absent during this meeting, leaving the powerful Mayor Cooper casting the deciding vote. We have some real mixed feelings about this decision, especially when we hear or see responsible adults at each others throats to the point of dog eat dog; and then and only then make a decision like this. Well, so be it Now we would like to present a man that we feel could fill this position, Lloyd Calvert. It is our opinion that Lloyd, with his experience and knowledge, would perform the job very well and that he would work with council members and employees of Myton to the best 722-271-1. 722-34- 82 Get rid of all the extra bureaucracy Dear Editor: Mr. JeffBardin with Job Service in Salt Lake City drove to Rooeevelt Wednesday, March 9, to do a personal interview on an employee that had been terminated fhnn Montgomery Drilling Company. Mr. Bardin had called the Montgomery office on Moiday, March 7, and was given all the information that was available on this employee, but still he said the personal interview was necessary. The information he received by telephone was no different than what he received in person. I ask Mr. Bardin why an employee in the Roosevelt Job Service office could not make the interview, but he said that they really were not trained for that type of interview. I think it is time the people got rid of so much government bureaucracy. I would prefer to pay any poor unemployed soul a little bit more any day than to pay some ' over-paigovernment employee taxes to his (that my wages) go pay to ride around in a car and eat off government money for a duplication ofinformation that in my opinion is completely unnecessary. 8ineerely, Shar Lynn Benson The Uintah BoiJn STANDARD Is published weakly at Roosevelt, Utah 84066 268 & 200 E., P.O.
