A garden reception will be held that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the bride and groom'a new home at 3050 W. Tess Ave., West Valley City. Another reception will be held at Roosevelt 7th Ward from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday July 17. Korinne has attended 1 year at Ricks College and will continue her education in Salt Lake City. Ron is a computer programmer at American Express. The Kay Rasmussen home was the setting for pie 4th of July weekend family reunion of the Calvin and Golda Rasmussen family. Over 100 family members attended, bringing their campers, trucks and motor homes, to provide needed sleeping space, in addition wall sleeping bags in to the wall-tthe front room of Kay's home. Tents were also set up on the lawn for the children. The relatives started arriving Friday, and stayed through Saturday, some leaving Sunday. The lucky winners for the quilt that Kay made were Lyman and Joan Rasmussen. Some of the family went up to Bacon Park, where they played baseball, while others stayed home, and tended the children. About 75-8people enjoyed a hay ride up the mountain o e LaRee Span, with children Wayne, Johnny, and Stephanie, of Salt Lake, visited the Frank Arrowchis and attended the pow wow. Kay Rasmussen was invited to a birthday lunch in Vernal by her aunt, Thors Yack, of Roosevelt, in honor of Sharon Birchell's birthday. Maurine White, Th ora's daughter, also joined the party. Korinne Haslem and Ron Asay will be married July 15. A reception will be held that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the bridegroom's home in West Valley. Another reception will be held July 17, from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Roosevelt Seventh Ward. Local couple helps with hints The city of Roosevelt can claim that it has some hometown authors. Clifton "Jay" and JaNice Jenkins of Roosevelt have written a small book called "How to have a Successful Garage-YarSale." Their book was printed in June of this year. So far, they said, they've sold 200 or 800 copies. The book is designed to give helpful hints to people about garage and yard salea that they may not have known before. Jenkins said, "We hope that after people read the bode, they'll use an idea or two that will help them earn more money." He said that he has had many people who have used the book come back and tell him that it had increased the success of their sale. The Jenkins got the idea for their book through their involvement in garage and yard sales. "We have a couple of aales every year," said Mrs. Jenkins, "we also spend a lot of time going to other yard sales and we saw that .some . were successful and some weren't." Bear Lake, Shane and Ellen Ashton from Salt Lake City was a July 4, weekend guest of her father Wilford Ashton. She recently returned from Orlando, Florida where she had employment. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Duncan and son Charlie and Mr. and Mrs. Wade Stevens and two children attended a three day square dance festival recently at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Lanny Ross and family went to Provo July 4, to attend the Freedom Festival. Mrs. Ellen Walker and Grandson Gary Walker accompanied by her sister Margaret Wight from Salt Lake returned home July 30, after spending three days at Des Moine, Iowa attending a "Weston family reunion. Carl and Rsjina Walker took them to the Salt Lake Airport. Shawnette Hamblin, with their friend, Jeff; South Jordan, Lyman and Joan Rasmussen and their family. He also graduated from Wichita State University with a Physicians Assistant's degree. He later graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic School in Kansas City Missouri. He holds a Hospital Corpsman title for the U.S. Navy. The brides fitted gown was made of white bridal satin with a lace fitted skirt with long satin fitted sleeves. Sequins and pearls were used, as accents. They accompanied a group of other square dancers from Utah including Governor Bangerter and Mayor of Salt Lake at the Houston, Texas Astrodome area. While there they presented a bid to hold the national square dance festival in 1991 at Salt Lake City. Their bid was accepted over other states.
