The investigation was completed behind closed doors at the hospital board meeting July 7. Herb Gillespie, county attorney, and Embleton told the board what the findings were. They also told them, individually, what their feelings were on the allegations. That information cannot be made public because of the executive session law. Residents will have to take the decision as the final say. What has this investigation done for the residents of Duchesne County? It has shown the system works, hopefully. When residents have complaints about But, He high government officials, or employees, they can be assured that at least an investigation will be conducted. This investigation cost taxpayers a great sum of money. Has it been worth it? You decide. Since you are the ones who paid for it. If hospital employees dislike the findings, which showed no criminal intent, then there are two courses of action left: Letters The Uintah Batin Standard welcomes and encourages opinions from readers in the form of Letters to the Editor. UPEA clarifys recent story on hospital Dear Editor, Your story on UPEAs visit with the County Commission and Hospital Board in the June 24, edition of the STANDARD contained one slight misquote and an interesting comment I'd like to clear up and clarify. We do not content that UPEA is the governing body for Hospital employees as Mark Mickelsen was erroneously quoted as saying. We do feel, however, that by representing the majority of the Hospital employees we should be given recognition as the official voice and lobbying agent for the entire workforce. We enjoy this status with most public entities we work with including the Executive Branch of Utah State Government Neither the Commission nor the Hospital Board would grant this request I was also surprised to read that Commissioner Larry Ross wss quoted as saying my attitude was belligerent. I feel it is important that your readers know that during our presentation delivered before the Commission June 17, nothing less than courteous and respectful behavior was exhibited by myself and Mark Mickelsen. The main thrust of our presentation was simply an offer to contribute a great deal of our resources (free to the taxpayers of Duchesne County) to help establish a comprehensive personnel management system at the Hospital. We feel the lack of such a system is one of the biggest problems, if not the biggest problem they have. Your readers might also be interested in knowing that during our meeting with the Commission they showed little willingness to cooperate with us, with the THE vent your frustrations to board members, or quit. Board members, who are tired of hearing and being questioned about the two month ordeal, will more than likely ignore your pleas. But you can with unemployment running and high jobs scarce, probably is not the try.-Quittin- answer. But, the opportunity is still there for the taking. So, what seems to be the best course of action. Well, for the well being of the county residents who patronize that hospital, besides pay for its existence, staying and living with the decision may be the answer. Though it may be tough for a number of employees, it still should be greatly considered in your plans. Maybe employees who are unhappy with the performance of Evans are hoping the internal investigator, presently looking at the hospital workings, will come up with the same findings that they have. There may be a possibility but there may also be the possibility that he may not find anything remotely wrong with the hospital. Whatever you finally decide to do, for the sake of the entire county, make sure you can live with it. Bringing those animosities to work at the same time working with sick county residents, may. prove to be dangerous. exception of allowing us to work with the Hospital Board. The Commissioners main contribution to the dialogue was a request that we be as discreet as possible. Ironically, the only comment that could be considered even close to qualifying as belligerent or disrespectful judgemental and, wen, they were fcir. I am proud to be able to express my God given gift of discernment in my judgements, discerning right from wrong. Every person, sir, will come to a point in hisher life that requires the choice of accepting and practicing these God inspired moral values or rejecting ' them and in many eases becoming a fence walker or even worse an ardent supporter of immorality. Your comment that my letter came from Commissioner Ross himself, when he expressed a rather negative personal opinion during our presentation. We feel it is important that the residents' of Duchesne County 'realize' that UPEA's intent is simply to improve the working conditions of the County em- was ployees. Our approach and pre- sentation before the Commission was a positive step towards that goal. There are unresolved problems at the Hospital that will remain unresolved if the Commission and the Hospital Board do not take action to correct them. Final rebuttal to Myton Daze activities Dear Editor, It was with much chagrin that I read Mr. Thomsons letter of rebuttal. He of all people in Myton was the last person I would have expected to defend the overtone of Myton Daze. I have a few further comments but before so doing I would like to thank Mr. Thomson for the introduction to the Basin. Now Sir, let me introduce you. Mr. Thomson is Reverend Thomson, Clergy of the Presbyterian Church in Myton and serves as a member of the Myton City Council. And now with that, let me be more specific with my motif. I agree, Reverend, we had some enjoyable and entertaining events and planned by well meaning and unselfish citizens who spent a great' many hours of their time in preparation and with that I find no criticism. I do, however, sir, find criticism with our elected officials who in the cspacity of that position have allowed the debasing conduct to contaminate what could have otherwise been a fun and Whole-some" activity for not only our youngsters but for the adults and old sters as well. You referred to my comments as . drunkeness, vulgarity, idolatry, exhibitionism and other conduct and actions and not to mention the defiant disobedience to the law of keeping the Sabbath Day anti-Chri- participating in activities that condone drunkeness and the degrading conduct of some to place themselves in drunken stupor and using language which is offensive to son. me, my wife, and my Not can I accept the vulgar and obscene gestures expressed from some of these same people. I find no value of any form from these or any actions that are an insult to Christian intellegance and further, sir, I will continue to speak out against these and similar activities and defend the principals of Christianity in spite of the sanctimonious and patronizing people that elect to oppose those sacred principals. How a man in your position, that is to save souls, can excoriate another individual who sanctifies and defends the principals of our creator can only cause me great concern as to his Christian credibility. If there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or I will seek after praiseworthy, these things. And, sir, let me remind you and any other elected official that shares this languid attitude with you concerning these principals. You were placed in these elected positions of responsibility because these voters felt that you would represent them in the highest degree of respectability and professionalism and anything less is not acceptable. Since I am the total hip replacement surgery that was performed here at the Duchesne County Hospital for the first time I too must add my endorsement of all Lois wrote. I too must thank Dr. Stephen Limburg who is a wonderful skillful surgeon and we are so lucky to have here such a man affiliated with our well equipped hospital. The staff, the nurses, the therapists were all wonderful to me. I left the hospital and spent a month at the Cedar Crest center where I was treated and cared for. It was terrific. Everyone there just did every thing possible to speed my recovery. I can never thank them enough. The nurses, the people working there do a terrific job We are so lucky to have these facilities right here at home. My recovery is remarkable, thanks to all these loving, caring people and I am so happy to live here among them.
