"There are plenty of arguments both pro and con to window said Lt. Jack Graviet, tinting, safety inspection chief for the UHP. But no matter which way you come down on the issue, there are . some rather explicit federal rules we have to comply with." Window tinting is allowed behind the driver's seat if the vehicle is equipped with both left and right mirrors. The outside rear-vietinting material (usually a plastic film) must allow at least 70 percent of visible light rays to pass through, and it must appear metallic or mirrored from the outside. No tinting film may be applied to the windows to the immediate left or right of the driver's seat Tinting may not be applied to the windshield with the exception of strip across the top of the glass. According to Utah Foundation, the private tax research organization, the retirement tax question has come under increased scrutiny during recent months because of the option passed by the 1987 Legislature. More than 3,000 state and school employees have elected to retire early this year. Under current law, retirement benefits received by these individuals will be completely exempt from state taxation. Amnesty applicants that intend Group reduced the allowable deduction on general retirement income this year. The new state income tax law cut the general retirement income deduction from $6,000 to $3,600 for persons over 65 and from $4,800 to $2,500 for persons under 65. In effect, this change increased the state tax liability by up to $186 per year for each retiree over 65 and by $178 for each retiree under age 65. The special retirement income exclusion was provided to state and local employees in 1961 when the current Utah public employees retirement system was established. The benefit was extended to school employees in 1967 after the school employees retirement system was consolidated with the public employees retirement system. Later, a limited general deduction was provided for all retirement income in the income tax law. Utah courts have ruled, however, that the establishment of a limited deduction of retirement income in the income tax law for the general public did not in any way limit the amount of the income exemption for state and local employees contained in the retirement law. In effect, the court ruling gave state and local retirees the advantage of both exemptions. to apply or have applied for legalization may also be authorized You will not have to show work authorization until September 1.
