STATE FIRES INTO THE CROWD serious disturbance in anthracite coal reg on caused by foreigners attacking state police mount carmel pa the first seri ous collision in the anthracite coal re gions since mining was suspended on april 1 occurred here monday be tween a mob of idle mine workers and a platoon of the new state cons tabu lary force and resulted in the inbur ing of probably twenty men three ol 01 whom will likely die the disturbance was caused by an attack on a detail of the state police by several hundred foreigners who became incensed at the presence of the constables they threw stones at the policemen and otherwise endangered their lives to buch an extent that they were forced to fire on the crowd which had dwelled into thousands the greatest excitement was caused in the many mining villages of the southern coal felds where it became known that mine workers had been shot down but the affected territory is campara lively quiet
