On May 12, at appro ximately 1 :15 .m. a 1979 Chevrolet pickup driven Edward L. Stoner, Cortez, Colorado, was south bound south of Ouray when his truck left the right side of the road just south of the Mountain Fuel fridge . UHP Trooper Bruce Riches said it appears the vehicle rolled twice after leaving the road, throwing Stoner dear of the vehicle on the first roll. According to Riches, Stoner suffered a broken back, broken right arm and broken right leg. Hie UHP Hooper said the first vehicle upon the accident came along about 1:30 p.m. and the call was received by Riches at approximately 2 p.m. He said he arrived approximately an hour later, at 3 p.m., and the ambulance arrived about 15 minutes before him.
