I, a popular play by The King and Rodgers and Hammerstein, is to be the eighth annual musical to be presented by Duchesne Community Theater this spring, according to Don Mayhew, producer of this year's show. The story is based upon the true life experiences of Ann Lronowen. who went to Siam (now Thailand) to teach school for the King's many children and wives. Set in the early 1860s. the play is chiefly about the contrasts between Eastern and Western cult- urea. The play is both funny and tragic, and the show is absolutely Rodgers and Hammerstein at their best. The show opened on Broadway March 29, 1953 and ran for an impressive 1.246 performances there, followed by a long tour and innumerable revivals. Production dates have been set for March 25, 27, 27 in the Duchesne High School auditorium.
