The basic purpose of the annual sale of Buddy Poppies ia to "Honor the Dead by Helping the Living" and proceeds are used exclusively for the benefit of disabled and needy veterans and the widows and orphans of deceased veterans. Ptelude music by Pam Forsyth included an original composition sent to the ehurch by Ms. Desme H. Galway of Salt Lake. The Call to Worship was Jeremiah 29:11-1After a short children's sermon, the scripture reading was Pastor given from Philippians 2:12-18- . Forsyth said that for several weeks he would be discussing different aspects of the Christian life and disdplinship. The congregation was reminded that the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever, as stated in the Shorter Catechism. Jesus said, "Be ye in the world but not of the world. He requires us to say No" to the world and "Yes to Him. Purpose, direction and meaning to our lives, as well as life itself, come from Jesus. To have s relationship with Christ is to have that relationship as the basis of everything we do. When we accept Christ, God sees Christ in us. As stated in the Scripture reading, we are to be continually shining as stars, continually presenting tho gospel of peace, the message of life. Pastor Forsyth invited everyone to stay for the fellowship refreshments which were provided by Virginia Monks. Next week the Pearson's will be here and there will be a potluck lunch following the worship service. Anyone having items for Crossroads is asked to bring them as the Pearsons will take them to Salt Lake. Members of the Aide will be quilting at the church Tuesday, beginning nt 9 a.m. and welcome any who wish to participate. Bible Study will meet Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Forsyths for all those interested. Everyone ia also invited to attend Sunday School at 10 a.m. next Sunday. Thanks were extended to the teachers leading the first days classes; Pam Bents, Linds Gardner and Charlie Fifield. Donations of toys are still needed for the nursery and volunteers for nursery attendant during the latter half of the worship service are asked to sign up on the calendar posted in the kitchen. Thanks were also given to Mickey Bents, Justin Mart and Pam Forsyth for making and painting several stools for the use of tiie Sunday School students. 3. FAITH LUTHERAN NEWS There will be a special meeting held at the American Legion Hall, Sunday evening at 6 p.m., Nov. 2.
